I don't know if this video is legal or not, but here's a collection of excerpts from public domain United States television programming from 1951. I give a (lousy) introduction at the start. Some of these clips are very pleasant and charmingly dated, while others make it clear that there is a reason times have changed. Represented are clips of shows from CBS, ABC, NBC, DuMont, and first-run syndication. Just remember, most of these shows aired live.

Born in 1951 Too
Thanks so much. I recognize some of the actors, not just Jimmy Durante, who, when I must have been 5,6 or 7 were still doing TV shows. We lived way out in the Country. We had no money, we had a farm, but I guess we had a TV. Maybe for my Dad, a transplant from Chicago, the TV reminded him of "modern life" in the big City. Loved the guy who ate burning cigs, yes times have changed, or have they? What about reality shows today where contestants eat pig eyeballs or something like that.

Very interesting compilation
I was born in 1951, so I'm interested in the cultural life of that year.
