A protracted and at times ugly campaign over union representation for Mississippi based Nissan workers ended in defeat for labor recently. More than 60 percent of workers voted against union representation. On today's show we'll turn to labor politics expert Marc Bayard to understand what happened. Mr. Bayard is an Associate Fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies and the director of the Institute's Black Worker Initiative. Then, on the topic of healthcare, some progressives in recent days have backed off from the idea of pushing strongly for a transition to Single Payer. We'll spend the second half of today's show hosting a friendly debate and discussion between Joshua Holland, a contributor to The Nation, and Michael Lighty policy director for National Nurses United.
