At 148gb, the collection is large but not unmanageable (there is a torrent available) and allows a developer or artist to work with the...

Published on Sep 11, 2014 Our memory is dissipating. Hard drives only last five years, a webpage is forever changing and there’s no machine left that reads 15-year old floppy disks. Digital data is vulnerable. Yet entire libraries are shredded and lost to budget cuts, because we assume everything can be found online. But is that really true? For the first time in history, we have the technological means to save our entire past, yet it seems to be going up in smoke. Will we suffer from...

The WARC (Web Archive) file format is intended to supersede the "ARC" file format and is now used by many libraries and archives, including the Internet Archive.   This is the specification in draft form which might still be useful because it is available for free.   ISO standards, unlike Internet Engineering Task Force standards, cost money .

Joe Terino Collection The 70,000 plus 78s were stored in a warehouse for more than 40 years, originally deposited by a distributor. Here’s the kicker: they said that we could have it all, but we had to move it – NOW! Internet Archive did and it came in on 72 pallets, in three semis, from Rhode Island to San Francisco This is a record of a physical donation to the Internet Archive from Joe Terino of a fantastic and large 78RPM record collection donated in July 2016 of over 70,000 78rpm...

Jocelyn Bergen made this nifty 8-fold book that the Internet Archive has used in the Bookmobile for years as a simple to make book. Originally made at the San Jose Tech Museum part of the Xerox PARC Future of Reading exhibit. Satellite-complete is a 2 page PDF that should be printed as 2 sided on legal page.

(summary by Steward Brand ) Why nature is rebounding Over the last 40 years, in nearly every field, human productivity has decoupled from resource use, Ausubel began. Even though our prosperity and population continue to increase, the trends show decreasing use of energy, water, land, material resources, and impact on natural systems (except the ocean). As a result we are seeing the beginnings of a global restoration of nature. America tends to be the leader in such trends, and the “American...
