Demos of a preparatory variety, recorded in 2011, for Fighting Ryan's Cousin. They sound rough but that's the idea.

This is the title sequence music for "Chicken Boy". 2nd draft. Important! The 24-bit, 48k WAV file is to be used in the film. The MP3 is simply for personal use, demonstration, etc. The video file is to demonstrate the appropriate timing.

These are some recordings of strum exercises for one of my students. These aren't pristine recordings, but hopefully they will at least give you an idea of how the patterns go. I've recorded 2 speeds for each one, and doubled the measures to give you more time to do the chord changes. The two tempos are 60 bpm for slow and 100 bpm for fast.

Now you can control the Pro Tools 8 mixing window using any standard MIDI device that doesn't suck. Or you can use this patch itself, although I don't really know why you would want to do that. To download, go to the left-hand side of the screen and click "HTTP". You want these files: ProToolsMidiControl.maxpat whitekeys This requires MaxMSP runtime, because I'm not smart enough to create my own stand-alone apps. There are also a number of problems with it that I'll let you read about...

Here you can download We Phat as it was meant to be. Uncompressed in dynamic range, and compressed as losslessly as possible from the ORIGINAL 24-bit 48 kHz mix masters into 320 kb/sec VBR MP3 format. These files are PRE-MASTERING stage, which means that they have yet to undergo the massive dynamic reduction process that reduces the dynamic range to -9 dB RMS. The mixes are original to their HIGHEST POSSIBLE FIDELITY; the final masters will be 16-bit 44.1 kHz so that they will be compatible...

These are the works that Sean Ashcraft wrote for his Computer Music 2 class at Ball State University. These are somewhat less inspired than his last works, but still hold there own as a testament of technique rather than composition. "O! Ship" was composed with cooperation from Alex Dobbert and Steven Berghoff.

Over the years, I, Sean Ashcraft, have accrued a large amount of pretty awful music compositions and recording trials. Anytime I get bored or I learn a new recording/composition technique/device, I try it out, usually to little or no success. The little success I do have is somewhat humorous to listen to in retrospect, and so, for essentially nostalgic and nostalgic reasons only, I have released these to the archive for all to listen and to enjoy, and perhaps even adapt (given proper...

This is Sean Ashcraft's music theory packet for the modern guitarist. As this is the first edition and still under work and incomplete, it is for the time being free, but may one day be made into book form. Until then, enjoy, and hopefully this will be of use to you. Each "chapter" is broken up into two parts: the text and the music. The number before each part should correspond, so if you want "chapter" 1 about the Key of C, you'll also want the music numbered...

This CD is still in the works, but for now you can hear the rough cuts from the band The "F" Band. You may remember The "F" Band from their chart-toppers from the 70s and 80s, but lately they have been expanding their musical prowess to include all genres, making them an unlimited force of endless power. Soon you will only listen to music that was written by The "F" Band. But until then, you may enjoy what is left of your freedom by downloading these tunes.

These 3 (and a half or so) pieces for computer were written in the late winter/early spring months of Sean Ashcraft's freshman year at Ball State University for his computer music class. Each piece uses different modern electronic music techniques. The first, "Pragmaticisms," is a Music Concrete work which uses only previously recorded material as the basis for composition. The next, "But a Temporal Relationship," uses a number of samplers to alter the timbre of...

Starting in 2009, Kara's Little Brother became legit with some tracks that were release for this webisode series called Evenly Odd. These songs were recorded using very limited professional resources (Sean did not have access to Ball State's recording studios at the time) and were leaving something to be desired, but hey, at least it's something considering he was not compensated for his time/work besides credit as "composer" in the end credits. At least he has become richer for the...

Back in the day, Sean Ashcraft wrote so much music with this really horrible program called Music Masterworks that he just had to pick the best ones and make an album of it. And he did. This was the product of about 3 years total work, only to sound like it was written and recorded in no more than a month. The sounds were created via 2 different MIDI soundcards: the first being a "realistic" card (and more typical of the 90's computer MIDI stereotype), and the second being the...
