One downtown pizzeria was serving up charity with every slice.
Hungry residents packed Lou Malnati's for its ninth annual fundraiser benefitting the not-for-profit KidsMatter.
20% of the entire day's sales went to the organization, which strives to grow, healthy kids, a mission manager Dawn Dau says she's proud to stand behind.
"It's building concepts, aspects of their lives," said manager Dawn Dau. "Whether it be interviewing for a job, knowing how important it is to be home for a family dinner, staying away from drugs and alcohol and working with [Executive Director] IdaLynn and all the KidsMatter trustees, we want to be a part of it and we enjoy it."
Drawing crowds to the event, like it does each year, were groups of singers from various local high schools.
Last year's fundraiser cashed in more than $3,000 and KidsMatter hopes to exceed that this time around.
