The ocean is dying. Oceanic plastic pollution is one of the biggest environmental challenges the planet currently faces. But it’s not too late to save it. Only creativity and collaboration, however, will end oceanic plastic pollution.
One of the pioneering companies dedicated to trying to solve this eco catastrophe is Adidas. They’ve teamed up with environmental initiative Parley for the Oceans to try to come up with a solution that will benefit us all.
The Parley A.I.R. strategy believes that plastic is design failure. A problem that can only be solved if we reinvent the material itself. Parley collaborate with companies to completely redesign plastic itself, following the principles of A.I.R. – Avoid plastic Intercept plastic (take it out of the environment at the end of a product’s life) Redesign
Parley have teamed up with sports brand Adidas to create running shoes with uppers made using recycled plastic recovered from the sea.
They’ve released their first batch and are committed to creating one million pairs of trainers by the end of 2017.
If we all buy consciously, we can save the world. Together.
Share if you know a runner who would love these shoes.
Do you think this is a good idea? Should all footwear be made using recycled plastic? Do you buy sustainable fashion? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. And please share if you like the video.
