Cabucu is a place in the "Baixada Fluminense", very well-known to the police news in Rio de Janeiro. In Cabucu there is an enormous flowing-out of garbage that includes left-overs from the Baixada Fluminense and part of Rio de Janeiro City. Our movie shows the way of life of people who make their living revolving junk and live in the junkyard itself in miserable shacks. According to the testimony of these persons we've got the idea of the way the garbage takes from the condition of being the rest of the civilization till its final condition:raw material to be taken to a manufature. We have tried to show the hard battle for man's survival;the terrible fight of those whowish to deal a decent and confortable life that was impeded by a socity that is ruledby violence and social-economics contrasts. Peoplewere led to live, to eat, to be part of and to be able to survive in junkyards as the only option of living. As we heard a dramatic testimony of a woman who made her living bypicking out junk " my husband left home and I had six kids to take care of"."I've a regular job". "But as I am not young anymore, I can't getthis job". "It's to pick out or starve to death" Or a testemony of a junkyard buyer. "Here they eateverything, rotten chicken, rotten fish, potato, everything they can possibly get". "! don't knowcome they don't die." Our movie is a livelypicture of these people. Our goal is show the other side of the civilization that can afford a comfortable and technologically supported by in contrast with the side that leads a cruel and unfair way of life.
