The Air National Guard plays a prominent role in support of our nation's national security objectives. Since its inception, the Air National Guard has evolved into a premier world class organization. It is an integral component of the Air Force's '"Total Force Concept' and continues to expand its role in support of the strategy of 'Global Reach and Global Power'. This paper will examine the historical evolution, current posture, and future of the Air National Guard. My hypothesis is the Air National Guard has evolved into a vital national resource committed to the strategy of 'Global Reach and Global Power'.
