""EL" IP (abridged)": "Endangered Languages, Endangered Cultures, Endangered Ideas" is the name of an 'opera' that I started working on in February of 2016. I picked 15 instruments that I have in my house to use as part of its instrumentation & then had mms (m(usic(ian's))m(eetings)) at my house that revolved around these instruments. I then made a movie of each of these meetings. These initial movies included whatever talking occurred & were usually features. In some cases, I made movies of intermediate length from that footage that excluded the talking. The 'final' product was then a short movie in which Roman numerals are superimposed over shots of :02, :03, :05, & :07. These are called the "(Endangered)" movies & were in turn excerpted from to be used in the 'opera'. An approximate total of 35 of these movies were made (it's approximate because one version is only a few seconds different from another in one case so I exclude it & in another case one of the movies is more like a prequel than something smack-dab in the middle of the project).
Some of these movies are on the Internet Archive here:

The idea was that these "(Endangered)" shots were to be sampled from using a software that would have to be especially developed for this purpose. Starting in, perhaps, May of 2016, my friend & collaborator Roger Dannenberg kindly took on this challenge - with the eventual assistance of 2 students: Tianyang Feng & Wynne Yao. Due perhaps largely to a lack of time in Roger's very busy schedule, combined with my own laborious progress, it took roughly a year for the software to be developed & to have its components enough to be able to test-perform it before a vaudience (seeing audience).
The temporary libretto is taken from a wonderful book entitled "Vanishing Voices - the extinction of the world's languages" by Daniel Nettle & Suzanne Romaine, an excellent & highly recommended tome. Furthermore, the temporary libretto is made from my review of the same book ( https://www.goodreads.com/story/show/524556-biolinguistic-diversity?chapter=1 ). The final libretto is intended to be much more complex & to be in languages other than English in addition to English. As such, the current libretto is more of an introduction.
This short movie is an excerpt from a feature on the development of the 'opera' & its software. That feature is entitled ""EL" IP" ("Endangered Languages" In Progress) & can be witnessed on my onesownthoughts YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/fiAVrCNtKvQ . The short is simply a demonstration of the ELsoftware along with my singing of the 1st six paragraphs of the temporary libretto. The final 'opera' is hoped to be much more complex & hoped to involve 34 (m)usicians.
