Dr. Richard Satava, MD, FACS, and Emeritus Professor of Surgery at the University of Washington Medical Center and Senior Science Advisor at the US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command in Ft. Detrick, MD used the VHS tapes in this collection from the date of creation until 2014 (depending on their relevance), as he gave lectures around the world on how advanced technologies were being used. Satavaâs prior positions included Professor of Surgery at Yale University and a military appointment as Professor of Surgery (USUHS) in the Army Medical Corps assigned to General Surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Program Manager of Advanced Biomedical Technology at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Satava received these tapes during the time he was at DARPA. The creator of the tapes are listed on the videotape label or in some cases at the beginning of the tape itself. The videos were made at the institutions that were performing the research identified in the titles. A few were commissioned âconcept videosâ by Satava, as the program manager, in order to explain the research projects to the Director of DARPA, Congress persons/staff, etc.
