A case of sequelitis
Sequels often fail to live up to expectations generated by successful originals, and this sequel to the 4-star "Private Snuffy Smith" is no exception. Many of the elements which made the first comedy a low-budget hit are missing. Bud Duncan again is Snuffy, but in this version he plays second fiddle to Edgar Kennedy's character, Sgt Gatling. Dialog often is sacrificed for the sake of Kennedy's physical comedy. Barney Google (Clif Nazarro) shows up, but he is no substitute for Sara Padden as Snuffy's plus-size wife Lowizi. Contrary to its title, except for two brief scenes there are no hillbillies in "Hillbilly Blitzkrieg." It has its moments, but not enough of them.
The print quality is fair. The audio is slightly out of sync, but you're not likely to notice unless you're looking for it.
