((mauricio marin)) paris las vegas hotel and casino is hustling and bustling again a day after a massive power outage forced about 3-thousand people out. elaine and gary celebrating their 54th wedding anniversary at the hotel couldn't quite believe it. ((elaine mckenzie/staying at paris: "we sat in the casino and waited for about an hour and a half or so then they said it might be a long time then went to planet hollywood.")) ((mauricio marin)) hotel staff worked to comfort guests. but it wa some people stuck inside elevators. ((elaine mckenzie/staying at paris: "alot of people were stuck upstairs and we are on the 30th floor we would not have been able to walk those stairs." )) ((mauricio marin)) clark county firefighters rescued 11 people. they located them by yelling into elevator shafts. county building code officials are now looking into why the hotel's back up power failed. ((samuel palmer/clark county dept. of building & fire prevention: "one of the things we will have to evaluate is the emergency generator back up system. when the power was cut there was a surge that went back and affected one of the back up generators but we will check that system

entertainment corporation ---which owns the paris tell us a contractor doing work accidently cut the main power line. and some are wondering how workers managed to get away without getting electrocuted. never imagined. the salvadorian native migrated to the country 18 years ago. since then, she has been waiting for the day she could vote. her dream came true earlier this year... when she became a u-s citizen. ((karen castro)) she says: i had to wait a long time. dominguez is among a wave of legal residents who have obtained citizenship this year. experts say, it's common for applications to surge during presidential elections. according to the latest data available... from april to june... the u.s citizenship and immigration services approved more than 33-hundred applications.... compared to the same three months last year. ((denise valdez)) here in las vegas we have tons of food options both on and off the strip... in fact we're one of the best foodie cities in the world! while there are plenty of chain restaurants -- there are also a lot of independently- owned eateries. and "restaurant business online" ranked those independent restaurants based on how much money they made. restaurants made the list. here are the top 5 -- s-w steakhouse at the wynn ranked number 21 nationally... with revenues of just under 20- million- dollars last year. next up... bazaar meat at s-l-s las vegas -- brought in a little over 20- million dollars. mario batali's carnevino italian steakhouse inside the palazzo made 20- point- 4- million... followed by joe's seafood, prime steak and stone crab at the forum shops.... with 22- point- 3- million dollars.

better weather for the shriners open. gorgeous weather to go with the course. everything is setting up for an excellent weekend. as it the tradition here at the open... the scores go low and that's the case again this year... there's las vegan scott piercy. rod pampling is in the hunt, it's been a long time since he's been at the top of any leaderboard... in fact it was 2006. but here he is... after an opening two over... he settled in and shot a 68 today. with shots like this he's a co-leader at 14 under... that's a career best for pampling. also right there is ryder cup team member brooks kep-ka. made a late birdie and is the co-leader at 14 under as they head into the weekend. we'll see who makes a big run this weekend. the thomas and mack is hosting boxing tomorrow.. tonight its exibition basketball. the runnin rebels coming off a 96 point night in their opener on tuesday will look to run against new mexico highlands tonight... new mexico highlands is located in las vegas, new mexico.

baseball fans in chicago celebrated the cubs win in the world series with a parade. chicago officials estimated the crowd at about 5 million people. chicago cubs manager joe maddon carried the world series championship trophy onto the stage at a rally honoring the team in grant park. cubs owner tom ricketts told the crowd that the players on the world series team are "going to be chicago baseball legends." friday's rally ended with a rendition of "go cubs go" and more blue and red confetti.
