( darya ) happening today... the oakland teachers union will decide whether teachers will walk off the job. teachers have been voting since last tuesday on whether to strike. tensions have been high in the district---because as many as 24 schools are in jeopardy of closing. the school board already voted to close

oakland's roots international academy. some community members are donating money to help teachers financially should union leaders call for a strike. ( darya ) in the east bay... police are looking for the gunman who shot a man in antioch. it happened in the area of lemontree way and sycamore drive yesterday afternoon. police have not released any information on a possible shooter but they say they are following some leads. the man who was shot... is currently in critical condition. ( darya ) happening now.. police are looking for the person who broke into a home in albany. the burglary happened at university village. u-c berkeley police are handling the investigation. the thieves came into the house through an unlocked window and stole two cell phones. the people living in the apartment were not injured during the burglary. there is no description of the thieves this morning. ( james ) on the peninsula -- police are looking for the person who shot a man and then stole a car from a tire store. it happened in mountain view at america's tires on el camino real. an unidentified man apparently walked up to two employees and fired his gun at one of them

major issue. going the wrong way on the freeway. you know people aren't paying attention. it's two in the morning. going 65 mph or maybe more and the visible it's not light up too much here at night.">( james ) highway 101 was shutdown for about seven hours. investigators are waiting on a toxicology report to determine if alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash. ( james ) another big story we are following... big changes are coming to bart starting next week. on february 11th... bart will be starting service at 5 a-m instead of 4 a-m. this will happen as crews begin making changes to the transbay tube. bart will also single-track trains through the tubes on weeknights. additional trains will be added to the schedule. there will also be changes to the weekend schedule as bart upgrades the electrical power system in downtown san francisco. ( james ) a big story this morning... the brand new transbay transit center will

remain closed until at least june of this year. repair work is already underway after two cracked beams were found last year... now there is a new timeline for completion. over the weekend... work began on the bus deck above first street. crews are reinforcing the girders on the deck. and next month... steel plates will be delivered to the center for installation. ( james ) the transit center was only open for one month before it abruptly closed due to cracks found in steel beams on the bus deck. an official reopening date has not been set. ( darya ) it's a critical week for congress and president donald trump as they head back to the negotiating table to fund the government. lawmakers have until

february 15th to agree on border security funding. the government was partially shutdown for more than a month after democrats refused to fund a border wall. as yet another shutdown looms in the distance--president trump is finalizing tuesday's state of the union address. both sides of the aisle hope to make progress on capitol hill-- ( darya ) as congressional leaders return to capitol hill to work out a deal--president trump appears to be signaling a "border wall or nothing" approach to the negotiations. he says several options including another shutdown are on the table. ( darya ) the new england patriots have won super bowl 53 by defeating the los angeles rams 13-3 at

"ice" says the rapper is a u-k resident in the u-s illegally. he was taken into custody in a sting operation. ice says he entered the u-s legally in 2005, but became illegal when he did not leave the u-s when his visa expired the next year. an attorney for the rapper issued a statement in part it reads:"we are working diligently to get mr. abraham-joseph out of detention while we work with the authorities to clear up any misunderstandings." has been in the u-s since he was 10-years-old. he got a green card and enlisted in the navy at the age of 19. but after returning from his service overseas he fell into drug addiction... and ended up serving time in prison. sotelo was detained in a feneral immigration facility for an additonal two years. he believes a paperwork issue is to blame. ( darya ) last week, community activists marched to senator dianne feinstenin's office in downtown fresno to show support and to ask for help in sotel's case. he has to report to ice on february 12th. the responding officers say they thought gonsalez had a knife and only opened fire on him after he refused to drop it and began walking toward them. gonzalez was actually holding a razor blade that his family says he often carried for work. ( james ) the chief says he is releasing the video now -- in an effort to be transparent. the gonsalez family intends to file a civil lawsuit against the officers- involved and the city of hayward...claiming unreasonable use of force. the officers who opened fire are back on regular patrol. ( darya ) happening today...leaders in paradise are looking for options...now that the town could lose two billion dollars in fema money. ( james ) fema says its because an ordinance that the town passed is not safe. all of this comes just a

no word on the cause of the crash. two other people were injured. there is no word on their condition this morning. the f-a-a and n-t-s-b are investigating ( james ) bay area actor and musician jussie smollett performed at his first show since his reported attack in chicago. smollett is known for his role as a gay singer on the hit t-v show 'empire'. the actor told police last week he was beaten by people yelling homophobic and racist slurs at him. on saturday he took the stage at the troubadour in west hollywood and told the crowd that he's doing o-k.
