"we didn't want to change. you to other vendors to come in and take over and it was always the same just too short of notice for them to take over." wasn't renewed. brightstar offices were unlocked.. but empty yesterday afternoon. a court order tries to stop the iowa dot from giving tickets. some people are trying to capitalize on a ruling last month in which a polk county judge said the dot does not have the authority to enforce most moving violations. they want a judge to order the agency to stop giving tickets. the iowa d-o-t says they plan to

multiple reports of gunfire in waterloo. last night -- several chidlren playing inside a home when it was hit by bullets. the house is in the 400 block of dawson street. no one was hurt. earlier yesterday -- shots fired in an alley near west parker and columbia. there were no injuries, but one home was hit there as well. funeral services are held for a woman killed in a crash. the crash happened this month on highway 57 near downtown cedar falls. her cousin, charles brooks, was arrested and charged after police say he was going more the victim's sister says she forgives him... the block has been closed to keep the public safe -- now the building -- is about to be sold. the owner of the old dubuque malting and brewing company building agreed to stabilize or demolish part of the building by last week. he missed the deadline -- but says he's close to finalizing the sale of the building. an iowa native is on the verge of space history today. peggy whitson is about to become the oldest woman in space. she's 56 years s she's on her way to the international space station. this will be her third mission to the space station -- her miss when she's away from home... to stop all of the arguing and fighting they've been seeing since the election. they're called the "joy-ologist" club. the group of sixth graders in carlisle is trying to spread joy with ways to reach out to students who might feel uncomfortable. "we're trying to like get the drama to go away, but like, it's kind of hard to get everybody to stop." the group says they wish adults would quote "grow up" -- and a foster child grows up to help others like her... recognizing a problem... the eastern iowa woman decided to do something about it. kwwl's amanda gilbert has the story. two year old kaden was door... it was a suprise... makes sense since it makes us feel so darn good whether we eat it at the table, or nibble on it right out of the fridge. one pie that seems to be rising in our layered version is crazy sugar until it's light and fluffy. we spread this into a graham cracker pie crust and bake it for about 20 minutes. while it's in the oven, we combine some vanilla pudding mix and milk. once that thickens up, we stir in a can of sweet potatoes (that we mashed) and a touch of cinnamon. then we'll fold in some whipped topping before spreading it over our cooled pie crust. we fancy it up with a packed with the richness of cheesecake, layered with the creaminess of sweet potato topping. to get your dose of

minnesota's police union says it's "disappointed" with the charges. if the officer's convicted - he could face up to ten years in dozens gathered outside the minnesota school where philando castile worked before he was shot and killed during a traffic stop in july. the grout signs -- though some closer to castile had been hoping the officer would be facing murder charges. a competency hearing set for monday for the man accused of killing nine people in a charleston church. a judge ruled the hearing will happen behind closed doors -- saying he needs to keep the public out to protect dylann roof's rights to argue against that decision today. bail denied for a man accused of killing a toddler. kyrian knox's body was found in a park lagoon in chicago last year. his mother left the two-year-old with kamel harris as she moved from cedar rapids to chic. lactose intolerant and cried for an entire afternoon after having milk. investigators think harris snapped. they found the boy's blood in harris' car and arrested him. running, he can't run anymore. no more lies. man up and tell the truth. harris is not married to -- or dating -- the boy's mother. he's

shocking video of an officer hitting a woman. two officers in arizona were attempting to arrest a woman wednesday afternoon. she said they did not have a warrant for her arrest and she began to resist. that is when one officer hit her. the arizona police officer is now under investigation. three people are in the hospital after a food truck burns on a three employees were burned. the trui no word yet on what started the fire. aftershocks continue to rock parts of new zealand following monday's seven- point-eight magnitude earthquake which left two people dead. many streets remain roped off in the capital and engineers were worried about some of the "the devastation is worse than the government has ordered an investigation into the

some booster seats are getting a boost. the latest booster seat ratings from the insurance institute for highway safety earn 48 of the 53 models evaluated - the agency's highest rating of "best bet." back in 2008 when the institute began rating boosters, only a quarter of the seats evaluated earned that designation. the evaluation focuses on belt fit and does not involve crash tests. this robotic seal to touch, voice and movement. it's being tested at a senior care center in seattle. doctors say interacting with the robot helps keeps seniors alert during the day, so they sleep better at night.
