. >> this morning a firefighter is injured in the line of duty. while battling flames at a building in philadelphia. we'll have that story for you coming up this morning. it is monday, december 8th, good morning, everyone, i'm ukee washington. >> i'm erika von tiehl. right out to jan carabeo, at the scene for us, with the latest information on this firefighter. jan, good morning. >> reporter: erika, ukee, good morning, that firefighter was taken to the hospital with very minor injuries. thankfully there is morning, no serious injuries, but this is still a very active scene. you can see, philadelphia firefighters on scene this morning sprague this building with water and that ice building up on the tree outside, very cold morning to be out of your home. now, we just spoke to the deputy fire chief here who tells us the roof has
partially collapsed. crews working outside of a collapse zone with a possibility of further collapse. so again, very much an active scene here on err it street in frankford. now there is fire started just before 1:00 in the morning here in the 1100 block, three-story, brick vacant apartment building, fire officials tell us the fire started on the second floor in the back, because it is a vacant building this fire is being considered suspicious. there was actually another fire here one week ago, the fire marshall still investigating. meantime it took crews two hours to get this fire under control this morning, and dozens of firefighters continue to work to extinguish the blaze. now, eight people from one of the neighboring homes had to be evacuated at zero as a precaution, many staying with family tonight, will be allowed back into their home once the fire is completely knock down. again, very cold night to be out of your home, weather is just one difficulty fire crews are also dealing with. >> just stubborn, and access
is difficult. you can see we have trees in front, other issues, we have to stay outside after established collapse zone. so we're working from outside that far perimeter, that collapse perimeter, and it makes it difficult for access, then in addition you have the coal weather. it is freezing up. now again, no serious injuries here this morning, just the one firefighter taken to hahnemann hospital. we're told with very minor injuries. however, this fire is still burning behind me, and we will continue to update you on the story. for now live in frankford, jan carabeo, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> we will get back to you shortly. new this morning, philadelphia police looking for the person who gunned down man sitting inside his car in west oaklane. it happened late last night, near finley playgrounds on east horter street. witnesses told police a suspect opened fire on the 2300 year old victim after they had an argument. investigators are checking the area for surveillance cameras that code leap this is the shooter. >> happening today, technical
glitch limits how you can pay at philadelphia parking authority kiosk. the machines have trouble excepting credit cards. now, that means you can only use cash or a ppa smart card. the aap believes it is a system failure. over the weekend people without cash parked and got tickets. >> i already paid the ticket. yes, the sign was a little bit more clear than i thought it was. but i think it is like sunday, normal meet respect you don't pay a meter anyway. so i think it is nice. >> ppa has ten minute grace proceeder time it issues a ticket for customers to get cash to pay the kiosk. if you are get a ticket call the ppa customer service line. >> chilly monday, morning, carol. >> that's the best part of it. >> that's the best part? >> coastal storm coming inment you can see on storm can three, that we have the clouds that are starting to build, will be coming up from the south. also seeing some moving in from the west there is will be a day where you can get things
done, because tomorrow is a day that you will be probably hiding inside from the rain that most of us are going to be seeing, though areas to the north could be finding some snow up there. right now, weaver temperatures in the 20's, 30's, so below the freezing mark, we will be getting into the upper 30's, so we may add about 11 degrees to this before we close out the rest of the day today. now, expect to find temperatures by noon, 35 degrees, and by 3:00 p.m. our high for the day, 39 degrees. so, there is a lot going on with our coastal storm. one to 3 inches of rain possible out of this, wind gusts, 40 miles an hour at the coast, tidal flooding can can be expected, and will be some snow in the poconos, in fact, national weather service says four to 8 inches of snow in the poconos along with some ice. soap, just watch for that. we have winter storm warning, 3:00 a.m., tuesday, in other words, tomorrow morning, until 7:00 a.m. wednesday. this is a very slow-moving storm system. let's time this out for you brief limit you can see the clouds build in. we go through the day and then
we start to see this rain, this is 4:00 a.m., tomorrow morning, this is couple of hours later, and notice that we continue with these showers, and the orange color, those are the heavier rainfalls. so we will be looking for a lot of that. that time line didn't even go out as long as the precipitation will last. because this could be a day or two and maybe even lingering shower into thursday. thirty-nine today, with the clouds, and the chilly breeze, tonight, 36 degrees, and specially overnight, we start to pick up these rain showers, it will be a wet one, keep yourselves as dry as possible. and dot very same thing for your pets and notice as we take a look over the next couple of days rain here on tuesday, heavy rain wednesday, a rain or snow shower possible, and the same deal on thursday, but by friday, jessica, we should finally be drying out. >> good news for the weekends. good morning, everybody, 4:35, outside right now, show you how the ben franklin bridge is doing. actually from the philly side.
so the westbound lanes right here, over the where the headlights, are moving on nicely with all lanes open into the city. over on 95 at girard, everything moving great there, too. southbound lanes headed toward the city moving great. so heading into city for work, you should have no problem doing so if you are headed out the door in the next couple every minutes. bristol, car fire taking out darren street between wood road and pond street. you can expect some police activity on the scene there. out in new jersey, right around clementon, road closure, white horse pike completely closed at higgins avenue due to accident actually there last night, which they're still having crews therefore clean up due to downed polls in the area. your alternate for the time being take egg harbor or berlin road. frankford, the house fire, completely closed we are hack ac and oakland street. alternate is to take orthodox or harrison street to get around the area. currently no problems for mass transit, no delays at the philadelphia international airport. erika, back over to you. >> thank you, police looking for who ever killed a man and left him tide up in a van in
south south philadelphia. investigators say the 67 year old security guard was found inside that vehicle, shortly after 3:00 yesterday afternoon outside lockerroom self storage. that's the 2200 block of 62nd street. we're told he had facial injuries, and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. police have no yet released his name. one person is recovering this morning after fire rips through a kensington home. it happened in the 3400 block every kensington avenue shortly before 10:00 last night, victim hospitalized. no word on the extent of the injuries. cause still being looked into. well, so-called die-in got underway in the shadows of lincoln financial field as 70,000 fans left the field. >> 200 protesters laid down at broad and pattison for four and a half minutes last night in honor of michael brown, meant to cymol wise the four and a half hours brown's body lay dead on street of ferguson, missouri after shot and killed by a police

breeze, feels even colder than that. looking at future weather, and we time this out 4:00 in the morning, we start to see the rain come in here, heavy rain tomorrow morning, we get some heavy rain by noon tomorrow, we start to see few breaks, but, the colder air starts to get drawn into it, look at this, we get few snow showers. this is by the time we get to wednesday. up in the poconos, there is a winter storm warning in effect from 3:00 a.m. tuesday until 7:00 a.m. on wednesday. so, you can see, this is going to be a long event. 39 degrees right now, tonight we drop to 36. but we definitely get that rain in there. we will be finding the rain around here tuesday, maybe even little bit of snow, wet snow mixed in wednesday. thursday, maybe, too, look at the temperatures, they stay in the 40's, nights getting close to the freezing mark, ukee. >> carol, we are hoping for better outcome but the eagles new it would be tough going into yesterday's battle with the seattle seahawks. 139 yards low. quarterback russell wilson had

321,000 jobs, in november, so that means there is year, 2.5 million jobs were created the most since the 90s. and the unemployment rate held steady at 5.8%, which is the lowest level in six years. so, all around, pretty good news there. ukee, erika. >> how about this news here, we understanded mcdonald's fast-food is slowing down. what's the word? >> mcdonald's is getting slower and customized. hamburger change will be create your own taste program, where customers use tablets to build their own burgers, picking everything from the bun to toppings. mcdonald's had been test that program in california, well, now expanded to 2,000 other locations, and it is also adding chicken as an option instead after burger. but it, comes at a price. time. it takes about seven minutes to get your build your own burger. so not quite fast-food. but, at least it is personal. ukee, carry.
