In the mid-nineties I had the honor of working with a unique jazz musician in Lawrence, Karl Ramberg. Karl performed at a couple of my movie shows and I'd started collecting recordings of his performances. Somewhere along the way, the possibility of putting together a cassette release came together.
It was a real recording trial by fire for me, since I'd only done a few recordings of acoustic instruments. Karl performed a broad range of material, which was recorded at my studio, Karl's home and the the Lawrence Arts Center. The results came out really well and I feel that it's probably one of the best tapes that I've ever worked on.
The cassette cover featured a color panel that was glued onto a black and white backing cover, Karl drew many versions and I laid them out into a sheet so that we could color copy several at one time to save costs.
