Ehe Range Busters - Another Day, Same Old Thing
Monogram;s Range Busters series was a knock off of PRC's Three Mequiteers films - often using the same stars. Here Ray "Crash" Corrigan is the lead, Denny Moore the companion with whom he politely fights over any available woman and ventriloquist Max "Lullaby" Terhune and dummy "Elmer" for comic relief. They are aided by black actor Fred Toones ("Snowflake"). The plot has been over used - banker John Merton and saloon owner Charles King have formed an alliance and rob the gold shipments to Merton's band, leaving the ranchers broke and the sheriff accused of in competence. The sheriff asks the Range Busters and everything gets solved. The obligatory cutie is Phyllis Adair who sings a song in a warbly vibrato laden voice - IMDb says between 1939-46, she appeared in 12 movies and was credited in 6 - and offers no further info at all. Nothing special here - typical B western - can't give it 2 1/2 stars so here's 3 for effort
