good evening, everyone. are there any global citizens in the park? i thought so. wonderful to see you. tonight we celebrate great music, and renew our commitment to the vision of sustainable development goals. these goals exist because of global citizen, because of you, because you stood up and you spoke out and you mobilized to demand that the whole world take action. the goals were established because you recognize that we have a role to play in ending moverity, hunger and erad dating disease and empowering our girls and women to succeed. i come here with my two grand children, thomas and paul. and thank you for making the newt better, to say how proud i am of global citizens, for the
vision you have embraced, the work that you have done, the support that you have given. it's really important for all of us to remember as we set ambitious goals, and i thank you for that. that in the life of a child, one year makes a drastic difference, one day can make the difference between life and death, so thank you for the alleviation of poverty to empowerment, to health, to safety, to education and equality. everybody knows how important these goals are. so if a child is facing disease or oppression, she needs a friend like you. i think it's really important for us to remember that as we minister to the needs of all of these children in the world, we are making the whole world a
better place. when we help the poor, we help the world. when we recognize the spark of humanity in every person, we move to make the world a more just place. my call to action for you tonight is to know your power, know your power to drive change. know your power to advance the vision of a more just and sustainable world. know the power to spread your dreams, know the power of your dreams. and spread them to bring others to stand with us in these shared goals. global citizens, let's hear it from our global citizens again, know your power, the power of your vision and use your power. yours is a voice, yours are voices that must be heard. yours is a vote that must be

- we had to think a little more seriously about saving money for the future and for the kids and for their college funds. we thought, "well this airbnb is actually a great way to pay those extra bills." - every bit of extra money helps these days. we have a retirement fund of our own and i take a draw on it. i don't want to take too much either because i don't know what life is going to bring to me. i get to keep 97% of my rental price. the extra income i get from airbnb has been a huge help.

i found a way to say thanks for the german people accept the syrian refugees here. i lived this situation before, sometimes i didn't find food for myself to eat. it was hard. it was really hard. but when i arrived to berlin, i started to find kind people. one woman, she said, i think you don't have food. so let me offer some food for you, i ate the dinner with her. she inspired me. so i found that when i help the homeless people, i help the german community indirectly. some people, they are surprised that a syrian refugee did something like this. we can live in peace without

held in a skeleton's hand and these antiquated ideals, there's no longer room for them in this modern world of communication, of acceptance, and understanding of others. so we can rise to the challenges and these are the challenges that will be if we're united, if we're together and we support organizations like this, if we look after gun control legislations in our own cities and towns, because look at you, look at you together. you have the power. we have the power. stay active, stay energized, use your voice, use your votes. and together we can use our power for good.
