Could extreme South Texas be the next world class site in advanced manufacturing? The answer could very well be yes. Local south Texas government leaders have banded together with the heads of local universities, colleges, and top private manufacturing concerns to establish a world class advanced manufacturing park. The project is called NAAMREI, the North American Advanced Manufacturing Research and Education Initiative. The park will be up to 400 acres in size. The city of McAllen has donated up to 80 acres alone. Members of the park will work to establish new products to be marketed world wide. The products will be created, designed, and manufactured at the NAAMREI park. Park members will work to supercharge the rapid response manufacturing program at the University of Texas, Pan American. This will be a partnership between private and public concerns. Current plans include hiring thousands of workers in the next five to six years.
