all over northern california. all right. are you ready now? we can really get it started. [cheers and applause] . i said are you ready? [cheers and applause] it is my pleasure now to introduce two members of the best broadcast team in baseball. please welcome dave fleming and john miller. >> now, all along the parade route this song that echoed through the ballpark and my broadcast partner on the radio dave fleming somehow has involuntary reaction to it. a lot of people think he's so into it. whenever the music comes on he can't contain himself. it's not even that and i'm going to show you it right now.
>> i'm not sure where you're going with this john. >> it's uncontrollable for him so he's not really into even the thought of it but i want to show you what really happens. we seen him do it so many times in the ballpark. along the parade route they were pleading for him to do it. >> i don't know. >> so really -- now keep your eyes on dave. watch what happens when i say "oh gangom style". >> john, can do it with me too. >> okay, okay. i can't help it.
[cheers and applause] now, another thing that occurred to us was that giants winning on the road the way they did, the one thing the giants' players really missed was that ability to share it with all of you, and we thought because they're right in the back here we could give them that feeling that if they had won it right here at at&t park. it's the last inning and sergio romo needs one more strike to win the series and dave at microphone. >> ready. cabrel the hitter. here is the two-two pitch. strike three called and the giants win the world series. [cheers and applause]
we missed that cheer. pretty cool. >> good work. all right so let's meet them. first of all the coaches of the san francisco giants. tim flan ree. >> ron roatus. >> the hitting instructor and royalty from cure sal. >> giants first base coach roberto kelly. >> the great pitching coach of the best pitching staff on the planet, dave righetti. >> and saibian likes to call him pitching coach number two, mark
gardener. >> coach and the catching instructor bill hayes. >> and giants hitting instructor joe lefebvre. >> there are only 23 managers in the long history of major league baseball who have won at least two world series. he's the first national manager to win two just like that since the mid-70's. ladies and gentlemen, the manager of the world champion giants, bruce bochy. [cheers and applause]
>> that's right. bruce! okay. now let's meet the players themselves. [cheers and applause] we need to give this guy a big round of applause. unfortunately he couldn't be here because of a family emergency but he had the winning run in game four. give it up for ryan theriot. he saved a perfect game with the greatest catch of the season and he kept doing it all through the post season, left fielder number seven. gregor blank koa. >> he did it with his bat and with his words. the guy sort of got the giants going before game through with cincinnati, hunter
pens. [cheers and applause] >> in game four in detroit he knocked in the first run with a triple off the right field wall, first base man number nine. brandon belt. >> a norn california native. he joined the giants later in the year and part of the home stretch. xavier nadel. >> this guy played andlet better he got. he could play almost anywhere and murdered left hand pitching. number 13. joaquin
angel pagan. >> we won't forget this one. awb ree huff. >> he was the clinching game and against the cardinals. ladies and gentlemen a perfect game number 18 matt cain. [cheers and applause] >> all right. who was the better trade acquisition than this guy. he turned into a hero for the giants in the post season, the mvp of the championship series, the winning hit in the world series, marco scutaro. [cheers and applause]
>> giants back up catcher number 22 eli whiteside. >> well, i have a feeling he's going to have a few more awards to pick up in the next couple of weeks. he's already won several giants post season catcher all star buster posey. [cheers and applause] >> and buster's back up 22 years old. did a great job. number
29 hector sanchez. [cheers and applause] >> well, there have only been a couple of pitchers in the history of the game and one is kristi mather son and started with one run or fewer. he pitched so well all the way down the stretch for the giants. ryan vogelsong. [cheers and applause] >> this guy was an important man adding depth to the bull pen during the long season. please welcome number 34 right handers clay hensley. >> well, this next guy grew up
a giants fan. i think he dreamed of being here one day. how many great plays about he make for the giants? short stop brandon crawford. [cheers and applause] >> we missed him this year, but in the restaurant he was there. hard to miss him. number 38. brian wilson. [cheers and applause] >> what a performance here in san francisco in game two of the world series. he's still only 23 years old. giants starting pitcher madison bumgarner.
[cheers and applause] >> i don't think we will ever forget the eighth inning in game against detroit and strike out the best hitters they had to over. germ -- jeremy a felt. >> another great guy santiago castilla. >> wherever this guys goes championships seem to follow, a key man in the bull pen against this here, number 49, javier lopez. [cheers and applause]
>> another one of brian saibian's great season moves picking up this left hander. jose mijares. >> literally he was unhittable in the world series and the post season. sergio romo. [cheers and applause] >> hard to describe what a job this next guy did. he became the giants' ultimate weapons in the playoffs
in the world series, tim lincecum. [cheers and applause] >> and adding to the bull pen veteran guillermo mota. >> a pitcher who made the debut with the giants this year jean machi. >> this guy was acquired from the yankees at the end of spring training and he was so good and forced himself on to the roster, george cantos. >> okay. this guy needs a big,
big applause for what he did against the cardinals to save the season, for what he did in the world series, giants pitcher left hander barry zito. [cheers and applause] >> audience: barry, barry, barry! >> he was there and came back to life, number 48, the mvp of the world series pablo sandoval. [cheers and applause]
>> ladies and gentlemen, the world champion 2012 san francisco giants. [cheers and applause] now to make a very special presentation please welcome the great mayor of the great city of san francisco mayor ed lee. >> audience: let's go giants! let's go giants. >> let's go giants. wow how thrilled we're are to have the world series champions back in san francisco. what a year it has been. it's been the year of the orange dragon. yeah! .
orange october. but you know we have celebrated, we have screamed, we have shouted all year long and once again the giants have captured our imagination and team work and they did the hard work. often we look at sports and we have super stars and we have super stars but there is a motto on the clubhouse wall and it says "25 guys, one common goal, win today". [cheers and applause] and they certainly live up to this motto. when i see young people, all of the city supporting giants gear it's about the impact of this team.
it is hard work, perseverance and hard work and work with each other. did bruce bochy and these 25 guys quick when they lost the first two games against cincinnati? no. did they accept the inevitable with st. louis? no. they carried on with determination and experts and pundits predicted that this san francisco giants was going to the world series and team work means everyone contributes and we saw those plays and three home runs for pablo sandoval right here in san francisco. [cheers and applause] . buster posey grand slam. [cheers and applause]
outside there, yes! we saw the magic of the wonderful catch he did to save the out and jer nee affeldt and come up through the season and crow -- crawford saving the ball and all the pitchers and pitching their hearts out to zito to a felt and in comes romo . [cheers and applause] we needed everybody. we needed every skill. we needed that great team work so today in recognition of their second world series championship in three years i am proud to present the highest honor we have in this city, the key to
the city and county of san francisco to the whole team of the san francisco giants. [cheers and applause] you know we usually give keys to individual dignitaries who have accomplished great things, whether it was the president of ireland or people like tony bennett who has contributed so many of their years to our history, or even a matt cain and his wonderful perfect game in san francisco. we normally celebrate those individual accomplishments but today we're going to break with that tradition and present this key to the entire team and the coaching staff. everybody involved with the giants, the investors, their front office. congratulations to a team that does not know how to quit, never gives up, and defies the odds at every opportunity. here's to showing the world who it means to play for
