The VIS-5D scientific visualization system has been extended to include an interactive mode controlled by virtual environment devices. This animation is part of a series of live screen captures demonstrating this capability. Note: A live screen capture of the interaction of a virtual hand with data from a computer simulation of Hurricane Florence. The hand grabs and moves the data visualzation, then activates a direct readout of data from the position of the virtual fingertip. Finally, wind streamline tracer ribbons are generated from the moving fingertip. Data Collected: 1988/09/09-1988/09/10. Animator: Steve Maher (NASA/GSFC), Andy Acuna (Hughes STX), Dan Jacob (GST). Scientist: Fritz Hasler (NASA/GSFC), G. Lai (NASA/GSFC), Ed Rodgers (NASA/GSFC), M. Karyampudi (NASA/GSFC), Kannappan Palaniappan (NASA/GSFC), Steve Maher (NASA/GSFC). Platforms/Sensors/Data Sets: DMSP/SSM/I, GOES, Omega Dropwindsonde, Mesoscale Model.
