To recognize the tragedies of 9/11, many of us seek opportunities to give back to our communities at this time of year. There are many ways to contribute to your neighborhood, and we'll discuss a few of those here in this episode. To provide further aid for growing families, Eva Obirek from St. Charles County Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC) will give us a look at many of improvements made to this wonderful program. Then, we'll visit with Community Council of St. Charles County Director Mary Hutchison, who will explain the impact that volunteers can make on our county and will discuss how you can get involved. We all understand that emergencies can happen at any time, Sheila Harris-Wheeler will provide us with information on a group designed to help us out after a disaster. After that, we'll talk with St. Charles County Community Health Nurse Shelly Reynolds about ways that we can protect ourselves and our kids from illnesses. Lastly, we'll visit with St. Charles County's Pet Adoption Center to understand the best way to interact with an unfamiliar or aggressive dog. But First, Parents, siblings and other relatives play a big role in a child's development. To explain this influence and to offer suggestions on how to become more involved in the development of the ones you love, we've invited Ann Young from the National Headquarters of Parents As Teachers to talk with us today.
