Subject: Incredible Show
Thanks for the kind words and thoughtful review.
This was actually my very first Spafford show and I loved it! I will be seeing (and taping) these guys every chance I get from now on!
I would not have been able to figure out where "Phonebooth" transitioned back into "Funk" so I just left the whole thing as one musical piece.
Wow. What a killer show!
Subject: Outstanding recording, excellent performance
Right out of the gates, the band is in fine form with a tight and fiery Remedy. An 11-minute show-opener? Yes please.
Ain't That Wrong gets the long electronic treatment, courtesy of some gorgeous synth work. The middle section of the jam is reminiscent of circa 2004 STS9 before building back up to a high-energy climax.
The Backdoor Funk gets quiet around the 7 minute mark and eventually emerges as the 90s alternative classic Standing Inside a Broken Phone Booth with Money In My Hand. Eventually the jam rebuilds back into Backdoor to complete a smooth excursion
Sweet is a gorgeous ballad, a radio-friendly song that I think is worthy of inclusion on a future studio album. Introduced on this tour, My Road (My Road) is already a highly-polished, energetic gem.
This performance reflects a band that's playing really well together near the end of a long tour. Highly recommended.
