906 people before me have listened to at least a little of this un-listenable play.
So am I to say what you are ALL thinking? Am I to be the one to say it FIRST?! Arghhhh! WHY ME, dear G-d!?
I am Catholic. I loved Pope John Paul II. I was a young, brave resistance fighter in the 1944 Warsaw ghetto. Unlike most of his brethren, HE SURVIVED THE UNSURVIVABLE. He became a Saint.
And sometime, prior to being elected our Holy Father on Earth, he applied pen to paper, or perhaps banged on an old Royal, and thus he produced this rubbish.
Like a true loving masochist, I am forcing myself to listen to the entire play. May G-d protect me.
Yes, this is a train wreck. A Holy Train Wreck, but the wreckage of a train, none the less. That I am vainly trying to write this review in the style of poor Cardinal Wojtyla, and I don't really know why. I am sardonic. Yes that is it; —I am a sardonic, —a vicious reviewer.
Cardinal Wojtyla, whom I admire more than perhaps all other persons, cannot write a grocery list, much less a professional radio play. There, —it has been said. This radio play is an embarrassment for poor Karol, who deserved far finer medals and awards for bravery under fire; —against the nazis in Poland.
I still love The Holy Father. Alas, some people simply cannot write. Oh dear. I am SURE John Paul II would NOT have wanted this play produced. Even I, as a young student have written worse. Really, it is no sin.
PLUS, it proves to me, without any doubt what so ever, that Karol Wojtyla took his vow of celibacy seriously. The man who could write such a tract could never had a relationship of any substance or physical activity with a woman. The writing in painfully revealing.
