It is always a pleasure to watch youth films from the 1940s. This cast was terrific. :)

Most of the gang's not here
Mantan, Keye and Laurence must have been playing off of their "Charlie Chan" notoriety. With Frankie there, the studio was giving the top names a vacation while feeding the "B" actors.
The movie was shot with a couple of trucks, a couple of cars, a couple of motorcycles and a warehouse. The plot is vague, but it appears that a big trucking company wants to put a small company out of business by wrecking his trucks and colluding with the independent insurance broker to file fraudulent claims for the loss of bogus cargo. The owner of the small company must have been in financial trouble and agreed to a few insurance scams, but the big boys had a bigger plan.
Mantan always marches to a different drummer (his own) and he let's little really get to him, but Frankie is way too nasty toward him in this movie.

Good Little B-Flick, Weak Finish...
Overall a nice little B-lister, worth your time.
A little jumbled toward the last 15 minutes, and with a "soft" ending. But, a good cast and it moves along fairly well.
Not many surprises here, after all it is from Monogram !

Keep on truckin'
Another generous helping of Mantan Moreland. He's on screen a lot in this one, but the script doesn't always let him turn on his patented schtick. But never fear, the great smile is there, along with the famous startled stare and there are plenty of "good gracious me(s)!" Mantan and Frankie Darro are novice truck drivers who get involved in uncovering a cockamamie insurance fraud scheme that makes no sense at all. (I've watched the movie twice, and I still can't figure it out.) But who cares about the plot in a one-hour. micro-budget Monogram flick with truck chases and other nifty stuff? This one moves along quickly and is engaging enough even for those who aren't big Moreland fans. Also featured in the cast are Keye Luke and Laurence Criner, a black actor who played Mantan's foil in numerous films. The print is in okay shape.
