Tex Ritter Sings - Catches Big Gang
An average Tex Ritter western with some good singing by Ritter and playing by Ray Whitley and the Range Ramblers, and a sexy bar room dance by an uncredited dancer (Rosita). Otherwise an ordinary plot - a big gang of hooded outlaws are making things tough for the miners and ranchers. Earl Dwire (Sheriff Walker) can't seem to figure it out. The people need a leader and get one in Ritter (Tex Martin) after he impresses everybody by punching out usual baddie henchman Charles King (Blackie Devlin). King played punching bag, with good grace, to every western star in the 1930s-40s. Wheezy voiced fatty Horace Murphy (Stubby Billings) is his comic sidekick. Forrest Taylor (Norton) does another turn as a nasty bad guy aided by many uncredited henchmen. Iris Meredith (Nancy Wilson) gets a few screen minutes here and there, during which she falls in love, out of love, and back in love again. As usual there's action aplenty - riding, fights and a grand gun battle showdown at the end. And Good triumphs over Evil and Ritter rides out with a song.
