Rex Bell As A Real Tonto Roustabout
Here's another western with a mix of well worn, often used plots. Rex Bell, handsome devil, is a bit of a ne'er do well, roustabout, all around good guy framed as a murderer by the friendly, deceitful, bad guy of a lawyer, Theodore Lorch (Sam Creech). He preys on the weak and needy Helen Mix (Nancy Cahill) and Buzz Barton (Wesley Fritch) using them to deceive the law into believing Mix is the real heir to some valuable land. He find's out how valuable from a trusting Bell early on in the film - there's a load of platinum on the Cartwright ranch and they are the only two who know about it. With Mix pretending to be the heir Edna May Cartwright, all is going well until the real Cartwright, Barbara Roberts shows up. Barbara Roberts was in two films, one uncredited, in 1934-35 - IMDb offers no other info about her, period. Not the worst I've seen, but close.
