Dolores Padgett is the Commander of the VFW Post 7142, San Clemente. She tells how she started her military career as an army student nurse. They needed nurses for Vietnam and she had always wanted to be a nurse so after she completed her nurse's training, she was commissioned. She retired from the U.S. Army Reserves as a colonel. She believes it is important for the younger women vets to get involved in all of the veteran service organizations like VFW, American Legion DAV, and AMVETS. The real purpose of these groups is to enact legislation and benefits on behalf of vets. Interview was filmed at the C.D.V.A. Women Veterans Leadership Conference" in San Diego, Sept. 2013.
