going. they're moving pretty good this morning. the reason, hermine, still a strong storm and closer to the coastline. look at the turn hermine has made in the last day, that turn has taken it sharply closer to the coast and it's still a strong storm, still moving to the west at 8 miles an hour. it gets closer to the coast. the showers are looking less impressive. we could see a late-day shower along the coast. wind right now at 10 miles an hour in delaware but it's a 14 mile-an-hour breeze at philadelphia international, 73 degrees and 07 degrees in the suburbs. a warmer start in new jersey while the lehigh valley is in the 60s. it will warm into the 80s. we'll still get a lot of sunshine and it will stay dry for philadelphia, the suburbs and jersey, except right along the coast, there's a chance of a shower, especially later this afternoon. most of the day it will be dry. you'll see sunshine this morning, too.o cf1 o look at the sunshine for the lehigh valley and delaware, into the 80s this afternoon. a closer look at these forecasts hour by hour when i'm back in
just a few minutes. first, jessica boyington has your first alert traffic. >> we're starring in hamilton township, new jersey, bill. starting on 195, the westbound side around route 130. you can see, several vehicles are involved hear. looks like something partially into the center median. one lane is crawling by. they have road flares as well. people out and about walking around. a big slow go by the scene, headed westbound on 195 in hamilton township. the blue route, there's an accident design here and the germantown pike ramp. you can see that into the right-hand shoulder. there are a few cars out the door, flashing lights here, two vehicles involved. doesn't look like police activity to the scene yet. there's an accident in upper dublin on david drive and fitzwatertown road. i'll have updates when i'm back in ten. new this morning, philadelphia police are investigating a crash between a
medic unit and a car at city and lancaster avenues around 3:30 this morning, a patient was in the ambulance at the time of the crash, though no one was hurt. right now, thousands of commuters are getting ready to get on the septa regional rail line. there are changes you need to know about this morning. nbc 10's matt delucia is live at the station in overbrook. people are heading back to work and school and septa officials are trying to stay ahead of the rush. tell us about some of the changes. >> that's the point, vai, trying to alleviate some of the congestion. over the past several weeks, past couple months, really, people have had to adjust to modified regional rail schedules because of defective train cars undergoing repairs still. today we'll start to see some of the new schedules take effect, welcome news to a lot of kmurters that kmurt ers --ç commuters that we talk to this past weekend. here's a list of regional rail
lines with schedule changes. take a look here. media/elwyn, lansdale/doylestown, manayunk/norristown, paoli/thorndale, trenton, west trenton and warminster and wilmington/newark. quite a few there. modified schedules as of late, they've had some commuters confident but others are skeptical about yet more changes. >> i'm not worried. they'll handle it. >> i hope they put more cars on the line and be more accurate with their times. >> they will beginning weekday supplemental bus service for the regional rail stations that have limited service right now. that will be for the morning and evening rush. i've tweeted some links to the updated schedules. septa's website as those as well. you might have to do some adjusting. later on today, some modifications, some new trains being added. of course to handle that load when you have all these extra
people who are getting ready to head on the rails. live in overbrook this morning, matt delucia, nbc 10 news. 5:35. bill cosby is back in court in montgomery county for the sexual assault case filed again the comedian. nbc 10's monique braxton is live outside the montgomery county courthouse in norristown. monique, what do we expect to learn during today's hearing? >> hi, tracy. when cosby comes to court this afternoon he could find out his trial date in the sexual assault case against him. look at video. captured back in may. his defense team led by brian mcmonigal. when under oath, cosby who is now 79 acknowledged giving accuser, andrea çconstand pill during what cosby calls a mutual
sexual encounter. in a phone conversation, cosby described the sexual encounter. prosecutor kevin steele will fight to use both the con tents of the phone calls and the civil deposition during trial. now when cosby arrives here, he'll be surrounded by his security team he'll also be one less attorney with him. washington attorney monique pressley is no longer involved in the case. we'll be here and have the outcome of the hearing for you on nbc 10 in our evening newscast. live for now in norristown, monique braxton, nbc 10 news. >> thank you. a man is in critical condition after a fight leads to a shooting between an off-duty philadelphia police officer and his relative. shooting happened yesterday at the officer's home on taughten street in northeast philadelphia. police say the officer got into an argument with a family member. the struggle escalated.
gunfire twice hit the relative. the shooting quickly got the attention of neighbors who walked outside to see what happened. one neighbor told nbc 10 the neighbor involved is a really good neighbor. >> really good guy, nice to talk to. really good personality. >> police are not identifying the officer, only saying he works at the 15th district. investigators say the gun used in the shooting is the officer's off-duty weapon. a police officer and another driver are recovering after a crash in northeast philadelphia at woodhaven and thornton roads last night. both drivers are being treated for nonlife-threatening injuries. 5:37. the eagles rookie quarterback carson wentz is the talk of the town. take a look at the cover of the sports section of "the daily news." "game day final" will break down his day, right after the news. strong winds from hermine made fighting this house fire in rhode island more difficult last night. the flames were intense, consuming the large beach house.
the wilmington pushed the flims and t flames and fire hoses around. no one was home at the time. while it didn't make landfall, hermine closed some popular beaches. swimming was banned and some tourists stayed away. residents were glad hermine stayed offshore. >> i pretty much felt relieved early this morning. oh, okay, we missed it. thank god. >> hermine is weakening as it lingers off the coast. now your nbc 10 first alert weather. >> now, the winds have increased as hermine has come closer to the east coast. you mentioned long island and cape cod. they're seeing wind gusts offshore of close to 50 miles an hour. we're seeing increased wind, too. sea isle city, there's not enough light to see the ocean but you can see the brush blowing and a stronger wind this morning. 19 mile-an-hour winds are steady at atlantic city.ó0@r(t&háhp &hc
gusts to 25 miles an hour at the shore. and even inland we're seeing the wind. 16 miles an hour, the forecast for today. in philadelphia, the forecast is for 60 mile-an-hour winds this afternoon in wilmington, too. with the winds and hermine nearing the coast, we'll also see more clouds. the showers are just offshore, reaching into new england and eastern long island. that's still a strong storm. hasn't weakened much. 56 miles an hour, moving now to the west at 8 miles an hour. it's made a major turn and still coming closer to the east coast. so we'll likely see more of a threat from hermine today than what we saw during the day yesterday. rain, isolated showers right at the shore. tidal flooding doesn't look likely for our area. don't think that will happen. winds gusting to 25 miles an hour, already seeing that. the rip current risk will remain high with surf height of 6 to 10 feet. inland, well, the wind will be blowing and we'll warm from the 70s this morning into the 80s, upper 80s this afternoon. if it wasn't for that wind, we'd
be into the 90s for today. the suburbs, sunshine, a few scattered clouds. still a nice breeze blowing this afternoon. northerly winds, dry air coming in, so it stays comfortable. the lehigh valley, you'll feel the breezes, too. 13 mile-an-hour winds with 80 degrees at lunch time today. head into new jersey and south jersey. the clouds will be building in the afternoon as hermine gets closer to the coastline. mostly cloudy skies later in the day today. a chance we could finally see a few showers at the shore later this afternoon and that's a possibility most of the day, dry. you'll see more sunshine this morning than later this afternoon as the clouds will be increasing at the shore. for delaware, it will be warm up there, too. you'll feel the wind blowing. 66 degrees this morning, sunshine will be nice and bright at 10:00 and partly sunny skies this afternoon up to 87 degrees. with even hotter weather on the way. the 10 day on 10 when i'm back in a few minutes.
>> see you then, bill.ç 5:41. 5:42 almost. yesterday it was relatively trouble-free for jessica but today, different story. >> right. she's particularly watching something on 195, right? >> yes, making up for yesterday this morning already. hamilton township, over in new jersey. just a few moments ago he had had all lanes blocked off as they pulled a tow truck into the area. this is headed westbound. the traffic starting to move again. we're slow by the scene. a few police officers there as well. over into the left-hand shoulder, that's blocked off, the next lane over. one lane getting by on 195 through hamilton township right now. just a little bit slow or something to use caution when traveling by on the blue route, right around the germantown pike ramp. other than that, no big delays there. police officers finally to the scene there. we'll have updates on these accident scenes and more.

you're watching nbc 10, the official station of the philadelphia eagles. 5:46. new this morning, passengers on british airways are running into delays at airports around the world. after a system wide outage. the problem is affecting the airline's check-in system. this was the scene in mexico city last night. british airways says its tech teams are working to fix the problem. so far, this is not impacting philadelphia international. and now to decision 2016. it's a rush to the finish as both presidential candidates hit key battle ground states over the next few days. in ohio yesterday, hillary clinton had trouble talking during a stop in cleveland. >> every time i think about trump i get allergic. >> clinton has suffered from coughing fits for months, after the event campaign aides blamed
it on allergies. today she'll be cam paning in the battleground state of florida. meanwhile, donald trump is focusing on battleground states as well. >> both trump and clinton were in ohio yesterday. as we just showed you clinton there. at one point, both of their planes sat next to each other on the runway. trump confirmed that he plans to participate in all three debates. trump is praising phyllis schlafly. trump called her a patriot, champion for women and a symbol of strength. she helped defeat the equal rights amendment in the 1970s and founded the right wing eagle forum. she co-authored a book called "the conservative case for trump" being released today. and trump and clinton face off tomorrow for the first time.
watch the commander in chief forum hosted by the "today" show's matt lauer at 8:00 right here on nbc 10. 5:47. president obama will not beç meeting with the president of the philippines as planned today. the white house called the meeting off. the president of the philippines cursed mr. obama. he was told the president planned to confront him on his country's killing of drug dealers. president obama has since called the philippines a close friend and ally of the united states. he will now meet with south korea's president. mr. obama is the first sitting president to visit laos where this year's sum smit is being held. hermine drove people away from the beaches during the labor day weekend and put a damper on business. now there are people heading down for better weather and great deals. some business owners expect a strong september. >> we have great waves.
we still have warm water. the weather is usually really nice. >> stores already have 50% off signs out and realtors say there are discounted rental homes available. now your nbc 10 first alert weather. >> 5:49 and 73 degrees. getting a little bit of presunrise sunlight. start to make out some of the clouds blowing inland, just like yesterday after clear skies overnight, we'll see some of the scattered clouds this morning. a better chance of seeing some of the clouds this afternoon and the wind already a little bit stronger than yesterday. but the temperatures are still falling, 60s for the lehigh valley and the suburbs at 70 degrees. 66 degrees in delaware and south jersey. 72 degrees, still cooling down at this hour but it's not going to come down much more, not with those clouds coming in now. 71 in mt. laurel. lumberton is 73. definitely warmer than yesterday morning. still pleasant. the humidity is low. satellite and radar shows the showers from hermine is still
offshore but getting closer. hermine is on the move, moving closer to the east coast, moving to the west at 8 miles an hour. it will impact our weather we had dry weather ahead. but for today, we'll be watching hermine start to move even more to the west. it's expected to take another turn. that's over the next 24 hours by early tomorrow morning, 50 miles an hour. the winds weakening by thursday morning to 40 miles an hour and that turn will take it away from the coast. during the day today, it gets closer to the coast. once it makes the turn and starts moving out of the way, then we'll start to see the heat climbing. a heat wave is brewing. once we get past today, we'll be in the 90s in philadelphia. that is a trend that will continue as we go into the end of the workweek and even into the weekend. today, 87 degrees in philadelphia, up to 90 on wednesday. come thursday, 95 degrees and the humidity will be ramping up, too. you'll feel it on thursday and
into friday. and still steamy on saturday. partly sunny skies, 93 degrees. we'll get a cold front come through. likely come through dry but it will drop the temperatures for sunday and monday. a little bit warmer on tuesday. but by wednesday, we'll finally see clouds building into the area. a chance of some showers and thunderstorms later in the day on wednesday. and those showers continuing into thursday, bringing our temperatures down closer to normal for this time of year. >> all right, bill, thanks. nine minutes before 6:00. let's get you to work, get you to school. check the blue route for starters. >> police have been busy this morning. jessica, fill us in. >> we're on the blue route around the germantown pike ramp. you can see it's slow as they pass the scene. there's a truck involved, another vehicle. police activity there on the scene. it is over into the right-hand shoulder. part of the next lane over but traffic is still moving by. that's the good news there. we already cleared that accident scene on 195 around route 130

accident scene, involving a vehicle and a truck. the police on the scene around germantown pike. drive times still look great on the blue route. but there are some things going on out there, some stuff cleared in new jersey but more to talk about. i'll have updates whenç i'm ba at 6:00. happening today, we should fine out more about problems with the pennsylvania's turnpike's toll collection system. the state auditor general will release the findings of his ten-month audit today. the turnpike is having problems collecting tolls mainly by drivers going through the e-z pass when they aren't subscri subscribers to it. the audit looked at how the rising costs of toll is expected to drive away turnpike users. we also now know his name, it's joshlee baddell. he was shot around 2:00 saturday morning. he and his partner saw three men
holding up a group of people near caesar's parking garage. that's when the gunfire broke out. one of the suspects was shot and killed by baddell's partner. m martel chisolm and dimitrius cross. the officer's family released this statement -- i wanted to take an opportunity to thank everyone involved. we're also keeping an eye on the morning commute as septa braces for a new wave of passengers this morning and we'll explain what it all means for people who are riding the rails. and in this morning's nbc 10 responds, we help a viewer who was double billed after a medical procedure.
