there's a truck accident where an overturned truck actually carrying pennies, money, that will be hard to clean up. northbound, route 141. all atraffic is being diverted off of airport road which is exit 5-a. up can see big delays there. but of course, all of that traffic has to get off the exit. again, new castle, delaware, 95 northbound right around route 141. we're watching construction around 95, near the betsy ross bridge area. just a few moments ago, we had crews roll through the area now actually it looks like they're gone. all lanes are back open. we're also watching the vine street expressway. construction there and typically the schuylkill expressway clearing around 5:00 or so. now to decision 2016 and a look at the presidential candidates in depth. >> donald trump and hillary clinton were each grilled in prime time about why they're the ideal person to lead the nation.
nbc10's matt deludelucia. >> both were questioneds too their fitness. donald trump saying he was the right person to make that change. hillary clinton arguing that trump would be dangerous. the commander in chief was held in the aircraft carrier intrepid in new york. a military setting with a military audience. both candidates trying to let people see and hear and imagine them as the leader of the armed forces. hillary clinton first took questions followed by donald trump. in one of those questions, trump incivilitied that his good judgment would allow him to make tough decisions on tending american men and women. >> i know what's going on. i happened to hear hillary clinton say that i was not against the war in iraq. i was totally against the war in iraq. >> that was trump's comments
last night. new information on hillary clinton and her questions over her handling of e-mails. roger cummings released e-mails that showed former secretary of state advised clinton how to get by security rules. hillary clinton during the forum acknowledged mistakes on her e-mails. >> as i have said repeatedly, it was a mistake to have a certainly account. i would certainly not do it again. i make no excuses for it. it was something that should not have been done. >> what you probably notice was that this was not a debate. each candidate took questions from matt lauer separately. the first head-to-head debate will happen later on in this month, on the 26th. we'll, of course, covering more of that as the days follow. new this morning, fire
officials in moorstown are looking for the cause of this fire. the fire started in the garage and spread to the house and attic. despite heavy damage no one was hurt and no one was home at the time. philadelphia police are investigating a home invasion and robbery and assault. >> police have a man in custody on that assault. someone home heard someone open the front door. he went to check it out ended up struggling with the armed intruder. that's when the intruder fired a shot on the floor then hit the man on the head with his gun. police say the robber took a prescription and ran off. officers spotted him, chased him and arrested him. >> the 53-year-old hole owner and his wife were driven to the location where the apprehension was made and they both
positively identified the 19-year-old pittsburgh as the person who committed the home invasion robbery. >> police say the suspect also fit the description of a man who took a woman's purse at gun point on large street minutes after the incident. and she, too, identified her as the person who robbed her. jury selection is expected to begin in the so-called bridgegate trial of two former associates of new jersey governor chris christie. bridget kelly and abill baroni are accused of scheming to close lanes on the george washington bridge, allegedly to finish the mayor of ft. lee for not supporting the governor. both are in in trial for pretrial hearings. another david lawstein is pleading guilty and cooperating with prosecutors. $120 million for its part in the delaware river oil spill back in 2004, a federal judge
ruled last night that citgo did not provide a safe place to dock an oil tanker from venezuela. as it approached the refinery spilling 264,000 gallons of oil into the river. the spill killed dozens of birds and off the $500,000 to clean up. the fbi need help finding this man, keyon johnson, police say johnson and another man robbed the bank in plymouth on saturday. this surveillance video captured a robber who hit up a northern gas station. police say this man went behind the counter at the gas station, grabbed the employee, demanded money and took off with cash from the register. pennsylvania casinos are now off limits for reputed mob boss

into southern delaware. newark and long neck getting some of that rain. and then it stays dry. and the heat will be taking off this afternoon. dry in philadelphia. a few scattered clouds. 73 now, but look at the quick warmup. close to 90 degrees at noon time. and then into the 90s today. with the shift in the wind more of a southwesterly wind, it will be southwesterly at 10 miles an hour at 2:00 this afternoon. riding in on that wind is humidity. and you'll feel the difference this afternoon. the suburbs, 75 now. 81 degrees at 10:00. 90 degrees by 2:00 this afternoon. in the lehigh valley, a few scattered clouds but enough sunshine to warm temperatures quickly. 92 degrees at 2:00. by 4:00, 93. with the higher humdzty, even in the lehigh valley, going to feel closer to upper 90s. showers starting out in parts of the area. 66 degrees right now, most of new jersey is dry and will be dry during the day.

pennsylvania government auditors are requesting new funding to test the untested rape kits. there were more than 2,000 rape kits of more than a year without being tested. they must be picked up within three days. and the kits are supposed to be delivers to a lab between 10 days. >> here in pennsylvania, the kits prevents swift justice and the victims of rape deserve better. >> the auditor-general says the backlog shows the lack of communication at local law enforcement agencies.
police are required to provide all data on a rape kit and turn it over to the state department. a high school in new jersey has postponed football season open because of an outbreak of hand, foot and mouth disease. three players contracted the disease in late august and five more players became ill even after schools were sanitized. the school's doctors recommended postponing the games until november. >> i don't think it's a big concern. i think the school has been really good about informing the community about what's going on, you know, taking the steps that they need to make sure it's sterilized. >> doctors say hand, foot and mouth disease can cause painful sores on the mouth and spreads through coughing or sneezing. city officials have temporarily banned ryan lochte from competitive swimming
following his scandal in rio. the u.s. olympic committee has suspended him tour fen months which means lochte would miss his world championship. lochte said he overexaggerated his story about the robbery at a rio gas station. 4:47 right now. philadelphia students heading back to class got quite a welcome at one school. >> yeah, it was a sixers surprise. take a look. sixers mascot franklin greeted students on their first day back at southern filled school in south philadelphia. students found sixers notebooks, pens, hats and pencils and other classroom supplies waiting on their desk. sixers employees also replaced the basketball net at the

"first alert" weather. it's about 11 minutes before 5:00. a few of citizens bank park in south philadelphia. notice it is dry. they have had showers in the area but missed the ballpark. 73 degrees right now. cooler in the suburbs where it's been dry for most of the suburbs overnight. 71 degrees in the lehigh valley. philadelphia, at 73 degrees. it will warm into the 90s this afternoon. 76 in manning. and barely at 69 degrees. society hill, 74 degrees. sunshine and humidity joining us today. so, look what happens with the temperatures. the next couple of hours, the temperatures will cool down a little bit and then they soar, we go into the early afternoon hours, 91 degrees. that's at 1:00. but with the extra humidity that will be ramping up during the day. it will feel like 91 degrees at 1:00. and it will feel like 100 degrees for most of the afternoon. i expect today to be the hottest day of the week. and a cooling shower might be
nice but that should be the end of the shower activity for today. that's moving offshore. we will see sunshine, bright sunshine, and the temperatures are going to be hot. for today, into the 90s. 95 degrees this afternoon. 90s for friday and saturday. then we get a break on sunday, up to 86 degrees. but cooling down over the weekend will continue over monday. monday afternoon. 82 degrees. and then into the 80s for tuesday and wednesday. wednesday will be a bit hotter. but the 10 day on 10 shows a cooler friday and saturday. now, there are a couple chances for showers. thursday, there's a chance we'll see showers as we get that cooler air. we do get scattered showers today. with the heat and humidity, i can't rule out scattered showers for friday and saturday. but the much needed steady rainfall that awe really do need. we get relief, tracy, this weekend. >> all right, it's going to be
steamy. reading school district is dismissing its mill school students early. the school will close at 12:15 because they don't have building-wide air conditioning. all other schools will also operate on regular schedules. trenton district has 22 schools but not all have central air conditioning. working parents are balancing last-minute change the best they can. >> it's going to be a bit hotter. i can understand that but i thought they had air conditioning, like, what's the problem? >> frankly, i do everything by appointments. >> parents also say the district afterschool programs don't start until mid-september. that makes the situation harder. the miss america competition continues tonight but history is being made in atlantic city.

watching the roads here. breaking traffic news this morning. watching this accident scene out in new castle county delaware. so it's an overturned truck that actually was carrying pennies that spilled all over the northbound side of 95. now blocking all of that off right around route 141. right now, all traffic is being diverted off around airport road.
