tears. and we do say good tuesday morning. authorities are sounding the alarm after a month of deadly terror attacks. >> growing concerns about terror organizations and their possible plans during the busy holiday week. here are new developments. a joint bulletin issued by the fbi and homeland security saying terror groups could try to replicate the effects of the paris attacks. >> the state department issuing a worldwide travel alert because of terror threats and right now the terror dragnet in brussels paralyzing them for a fourth straight day in belgium and could last another week. abc's joe ramstetter is ramstetter stephanie ramos is live with the details. >> reporter: the state department is -- they say they're not telling americans not to travel around the world but to be vigilant. if you plan on traveling this holiday season, a new warning

pressure to do so from france. kendis, reena, back to you. >> stephanie ramos, steph, thanks so much. a possible new clue in the hunt for an eighth suspect in the paris attacks. >> a suicide belt turning up in the suburb of that city. did it belong to salah abdeslam, who is still on the run? authorities say his cell phone signal was pinging in the very same suburb late at night after the attacks. he was last seen in brussels, belgium. >> of course, that city which is the headquarters of nato and the european union on lockdown this morning for a fourth consecutive day. s.w.a.t. teams in masks swarming the neighborhood where that eighth suspect lived. officials imposing the highest alert because of a possible terror threat that they say, quoting here, is serious and imminent. abc's matt gutman driving along with brussels police officers seeing the city under siege. >> reporter: this whole city is on lockdown. everywhere you go you see police

officers with masks, machine guns, army. >> yes. >> that will remain in place until next week but schools, public transportation and government offices in brussels tomorrow. we've got breaking news that is coming in from turkey where the military says it has shot down a russian plane and now we're getting reports that russia is confirming that report. turkey says the russian jet violated its airspace near the syrian border. the early reports that we're getting say the two pilots parachuted to safety. russia, of course, has been conducting air strikes in syria since september. this morning donald trump is doubling down on his statement that he saw on television muslims in new jersey celebrating the 9/11 attacks. he says he's received hundreds of calls and tweets in recent days from people who told him that they eyewitnessed the scenes that he described and he read part of this article from "the washington post." >> in jersey city within hours

the world trade center, law enforcement authorities detained and questioned a number of people who were allegedly seen celebrating the attacks and holding tailgate-style -- >> "the washington post" later said that article was incorrect. ben carson, trump's main rival is backing away from claims he made earlier about muslims in new jersey celebrating. a spokesman said carson remembers news footage of groups in the middle east celebrating. the republican governor of indiana is being sued over his attempts to block syrian refugees from settling in that state. that federal lawsuit brought by the aclu, governor mike pence suspended the resettlement following the paris attacks. the lawsuits indicate it violates the equal protection clause of the constitution because indiana accepts refugees from other countries. well, breaking overnight four crew members are dead after

a helicopter crash at the ft. hood range in texas. military officials say the helicopter was on a routine training mission and investigation to determine the cause of the crash is under way. the names of the deceased have not been released. following more breaking news from minneapolis where five protesters have been shot overnight near ongoing demonstrations over the fatal shooting of a black man by police officers. the shooters were part of a white supremacist group with at least one wearing a mask when protesters tried to herd them away from the scene, the shooting broke out. none of the injuries were told to be life-threatening. 9 weather not doing favors to those flying to or from the west coast. storm system moving into california, oregon and washington. we're talking up to a foot of snow expected in the sierra nevada. more from accuweather's molly cochran. how is it looking, molly? good morning, kendis and reena. we continue to keep an eye out on the next system impacting the pac northwest bringing in heavy snow totals through wednesday

top stories this morning, the state department issuing a worldwide travel alert after a month of terror attacks. the warning comes as the busy holiday travel season gets under way. brussels remains on the highest alert amid warnings of a possible terror attack. a suspect wanted in the paris attacks was last seen in that city. he may be linked to a suicide vest found abandoned in a paris suburb. breaking news, the turkish military says it has shot down a russian warplane. turkey says the jet violated its airspace near the syrian border. russia, of course, has been conducting air strikes in syria since september. today's weather, dry, cool and mild for the eastern two-thirds of the country. rain and snow for the west coast and northern rockies. some areas could get up to a foot of snow. the battle in the ballroom not yet over.
