windchill advisory in effect it will feel like zero and 15 below in the immediate region and a little bit worse in the poconos and after that it doesn't get all that much better today. we'll get lots of sunshine. it will not happen. as we look at temperatures 10 degrees in philadelphia. we have slipped as i thought we would. 6 degrees in allentown. 7 in reading. 9 in wilmington and 8 in trenton. we could get into the single digits in philadelphia before we start to turn it around. of course there's are a breeze blowing in the teens in much of the region right now. that's giving you a windchill of one blow in philadelphia. 3 below in allentown. we'll have for the sun to come up before we increase temperatures. as you head out to the school bus, bitter cold between 6 8 10 and 11 degrees.

13 degrees by 9:00. 19 by noon. 22 by 3:00 p.m. 19 by 6:00 p.m. strong blustery winds keeping the windchills in the single digits even at the best of times this afternoon. i'll have more on all this in detail the possibility of a snow shower tonight and better temperatures in the seven day. >> reporter: freezing cold out there, warm up the car. as we look outside the roads are clear and dry, this is the vine street expressway approaching the schuylkill expressway. traffic is moving nicely. you want to watch for slick spots especially on secondary roads. in ogontz we had a fire that broke out. roslyn street near ogontz avenue watch for this they are putting down salt to avoid any icy conditions there. stick to third lane. in douglas township, another reason for icy conditions, a water plain break route 100 northbound at 73.

burlington bristol bridge opening at 5:30 for a northbound ship. stick to the turnpike connector bridge. >> while the dangerous cold gripping our area is prompting 27 schools to delay opening scrolling across the bottom of the scene. we have flames in philadelphia, katherine scott is live at the logan scene. >> reporter: this victim is a the first fatality of 2015. he is a 79-year-old veteran. the 1800 block closed off. the cause is under investigation, it appears the fire started in the kitchen. neighborhood called 911 around 1:15. the first firefighters were on scene in four minutes. firefighters discovered a

79-year-old man on the couch on the first floor rushed to einstein and pronounced dead after 2:00 a.m. fire officials say there were working smoke alarms inside the home. >> the smoke alarms were in place, they were activated. this person appeared to have some disabilities. we are not show sure why he he was not able to get out because the smoke alarms did low e go off. if you're planning your home escape plan practice it so you can get out safely. >> reporter: the neighboring homes were not damaged. three people were displayed by the fire. the 79-year-old man was home alone at the time. his three family members are staying with other families. as you look out on the street on roslyn there's ice. the weather did not play a role in the fighting the he -- the fire it appear it is the fire

started in the kitchen. the cause is under investigation, the fire marshal is on the scene. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> and we've got breaking news coming to us out of france. two people a police officer in the streets was shot in the southern suburb of paris overnight. take a look at the video coming in from the scene. top security officials are saying the two are gravely wounded, but at this point there's no confirmation that this shooting which happened after a traffic accident is indeed connected to yesterday's shooting massacre in central paris at the satirical newspaper charlie hedbro. they are hunting for these two heavily armed men. take a look they are brothers in their 340s. they stormed an editorial meeting at a newspaper building and opened fire with automatic weapons killing 12 and wounding 1 more. one of the brothers in fact may

are precipitation free. we're looking for sunshine that will be smacking the center city skyscrapers right in the side, but it sun won't help today. 6 in allentown. 8 in trenton. 7 in trd, 9 in wilmington, 13 at the boardwalk and sea isle and atlantic city. the windchills are worse and we'll cover that in a moment. the winds are going to be driving out of the northwest again and in allentown a high of 18 with lots of sun but that bitter wind will make it feel like the single digits pretty much all the way today. at the shore high of 21 biting winds there, as well. mostly sunny windchills making it feel worse in philadelphia we'll go for a high of 22 under the sun. again a bitter, strong wind gusting up to 30 miles per hour which is in the vicinity of what we experienced yesterday and yes we'll have the bitter windchills. here's the temperature profile.

8, 11. 11:00 a.m. 17, 2:00 p.m. 21 degrees and 5:00 p.m. 20 degrees. as we advance this toward noon it's raw. windchills around 7. up in the poconos below zero. a little bit better in wildwood and millville but not by much. throughout the day and this morning and today and tonight bundle up, cover up as much skin as you can. future tracker 6 is picking up the possibility of snow showers around. accuweather warning of this, as well most of us this after 3:00 a.m. tonight in through tomorrow morning's rush hour looks like they want to stay to the north on future tracker 6. nonetheless slow down if you see snowflakes. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, today windy and bitter cold, high of 22.
