our top story this morning, the investigation into the bizarre explosion. >> reporter: good morning. that young man is listed in stable condition this morning after what was a frightening incident in a city that is on heightened alert this holiday. chaos and confusion in central park, new york. friends up in arms after another friend was injured. it was a small explosion off the beaten path. 19-year-old, conner gold, stepping down from a rock and stepping on a homemade fire work. police say

last through the day today across kentucky and into west virginia. we have the pockets of heavier rain training over the same areas that we have been seeing for the last couple of days, and we are going to see increased chances of heavier rain, even as far east as washington, d.c. that could affect the fireworks a little bit. as we go into tomorrow, spotty showers and storms. looks like this area, right through louisville kentucky stretching over into parts of eastern and central west virginia, and just to give you an idea of the forecast for fireworks. washington, d.c., that's where we could see a couple scattered storms, and denver and atlanta looks okay, and pretty warm, too, and temperatures around 77 and right in the zone where if it's been wet it will stay wet.

captain tom wellins said matt graves had lacerations from teeth, and he was persuaded to seek medical attention. the father described the experience telling how another gator attacked him as his son was being pulled into the water. >> during this 16-hour search for the boy, at least five alligators were found and killed and the toddler's body was discovered intact 15 yards from the show and he died from drowning and traumatic injuries. and he told supervisors about the parents' heartbreak and love for this child. adding that the mother

quintessential american food was the stuff that comes off the grill. >> to preserve the patriotic design, jacob advocated to keep production of plastic and stainless steel versions within the united states. >> he thought it was ironic to have something american flag like to be made somewhere else. >> one year later, just as jacob was beginning grad school, he started having trouble swallowing. jacob was diagnosed with esophogeal cancer at the age of 23. he underwent an extensive proton therapy at penn medicine. >> the proton therapy was positive energy. he was really excited because he said that's what i really need right now is positive energy. >> it was during his treatment that jacob decided he wanted a portion of the proceeds from the star spangled spatula to go to cancer research and that's when flip for cancer was created. >> jacob was clear that he was investing
