about this piece...
This was created in 1999 for an art contest that was advertised on the back of a set of watercolor pencils. The theme of the contest was the New Millennium, and how the artist perceives their own country. I decided to portray America in a moment of realization that without love, nothing else matters. And time is running out (hourglass). I didn't win the contest, but held on to this piece for years, then donated it to a gallery that had recently had a fire and lost everything. So this digital pic is all I have left of the original.

It's All About Love
I suppose this is as close to a "political cartoon" I'll ever make.
It's how I view America. I would explain everything about it to you, like why he has a smiley-face patch on the hole in his jeans, or why his shirt is tattered and torn, or why he's blue.
But instead, I give you this... A recorded conversation between my daughter & I, sometime in 2008. Never Stop Loving
