The strapwork title-page border incorporating Gessner's device is signed CS for Christoph Schweitzer. There is a smaller version of the device on V5v. Portrait heads of the emperors appear in large roundels (28 cm.) on the recto of each leaf starting with A1, and brief biographies appear within decorative borders on the versos.
