Heddinger served as Chair of WMATA's Metro Accessibility Advisory Committee and worked to make the Metro system fully accessible to the disabled and those with limited mobility. This interview is part of a collection of oral histories compiled by George Mason University professor Dr. Zachary Schrag as research for his dissertation on the history of WMATA. The dissertation eventually became The Great Society Subway, a book published by Schrag in 2006.
