Much different from today's maps, and requires further investigation.
1st map was made by Gerard Mercator in 1595. You will notice the large land mass in the center is no longer seen on maps anymore. Only a large ice sheet remains. Looks like Mercator saw something up there they don't want us to see . There are some other smaller land masses shown that don't exist on maps of today as well. An Island called 'Frif Land" which is located between Greenland and Iceland has been removed. Frif Land can also be seen encircled in the upper left corner of the map which seems to show some importance to the island. Mercator reported there were pygmies living on one of the 4 continents of the center land mass, and a large black magnetic mountain (Rupes Nigra), sitting at the center of the North Pole. Perhaps this is what our compasses are pointing to. It has been said that the 4 large rivers of the inner continents pour into the center where the mountain is located, and into the earth. Then this process reverses, where the water is expelled from the center and out the rivers into the oceans. This could explain why we get the tides. Air temperature is said to be moderate in the region. Greenland is totally green on this map, unlike Google Earth's whited out version. You would think a place called Greenland would actually be green. It almost touches the inner continents on this first release of the map. Mercator was no slouch. He was a well respected map maker/explorer. We still use one of his world maps today, called the "Mercator Projection Map", used for ocean navigation. Also, one should know there is no independent exploration allowed at the North Pole, as well as the South pole. Wonder why?
The second map was made in 1606 and has more color and better resolution. It looks exactly the same as the 1595 map, except there is some removal and rearranging at the lower end of the inner continents, and some of the islands. It looks as though someone erased the lower portion of the pygmy continent. Perhaps leaving that portion of land in tact made it look to easy for someone to travel North across Greenland and explore the hidden land. There is an old government documentary you can find called "Dew Line" which shows how the government built a military outpost along the Arctic Circle supposedly as an early warning system against invasion. Maybe it was put there to keep us away from the North.
Shortly after these maps were made, the inner continents totally disappeared from all maps.
Some people believe this was the original Garden of Eden where all life started. An interesting topic, and there is more information out there on this.
