Description: Rows of roses, hedge and buildings in the background, California Nursery Co., Niles. Black and white, original. See pg 80, Niles, Fremont (unreferenced book): 'This image demonstrates the same intensively managed rose-growing grounds, budded and raised as standards. Rev. Fong So Yick came to California in 1917, and by 1928 he could afford to buy the Bertolucci farm near Alameda Creek. The family memoirs note that he also did contract work for George C Roeding, Sr. at this date, specializing in the budding of roses.'
