Ben tears apart a broken laser printer to see what parts he can salvage from it. He finds a variety of useful items from springs to opto-interrupters and muses about how the parts can be incorporated into future projects. A heap of ABS plastic is left in the wake of the teardown and gets Ben brainstorming ideas of how it could be turned into 3-D printer filament instead of going into the recycling bin. Ben ends up with a bunch of new parts!

Fiilex LED lights are very compact and fit well into a carrying case. We saw a padded case holding six, plus their stands and power supplies, very securely. They're water resistant, and come in a variety of sizes. Some even have built-in batteries, and one of the coolest things is their use of magnets to attach accessories like diffusers. http://www.fiilex.com/

After giving an overview of his ideas for the project, Ben gets to work designing PCBs, which he'll stuff using both surface mount and through-hole soldering. He makes sure the LED PCBs function correctly before beginning his designs for this mechanical wonder.

A frequent challenge with technology is the simple act of passing data from one device to another. There are options, but they all have their problems: too slow, too clumsy, too insecure... the list goes on and on. To solve this Toshiba has created the TransferJet, which makes moving files fast, easy and secure. It's point to point so no concerns about your data winding up anywhere other than the device you're sending to. It's available in Japan now, and coming soon to Europe and the U.S.
