Cultural & Academic Films

This library of academic and cultural films features collections from the Academic Film Archive and the Media Burn Independent Film Archive, as well as a selection of documentaries created by Dorothy Fadiman. In addition, films from the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archeology and Anthropology are presented including those by Watson Kintner who used film to document his world travels, and the popular television show from the 1950s: “What in the World?”

Expedition to Mi-nyag is a journey into Sikang Province, China, and a first exploration of the Mi-nyag mountains.  Originally produced in 1954, using footage filmed in 1928-1930. These are the original records of the Nickwackett Engine Company, which was housed in the same building that the historical society now occupies.  It includes log books 1860 - 1895, Fires and Alarms 1876 - 1879, and Members and Dues.  The records were donated by the Austin family, whose ancestors were members and officers of the Nickwackett Engine Company during this period.
