Little Life of Father Faber
Many people in the English speaking Christian world have probably been exposed to Father Faber through his hymns that he wrote, including Faith of our Fathers. Many others are familiar about him through his writings on the Sorrowful Mother, Precious Blood, and his excellent spiritual conferences.
The author of this little work had a simple goal: detail his interesting career and provide some details of his edifying life. The work can be read in under an hour at an even pace. Once I started reading it I enjoyed it so much I finished it in one sitting.
Certain details, such as certain tensions that arose between him and Blessed Cardinal Newman were not included, but it did mention his unpopularity at times for his unapologetic Catholicism. The information about his encounters with Blessed Pius IX where particularly interesting, so the book still has some flavor that comes from details.
Five stars for a book that was hard to put down about a man with great zeal and love of God.
