Two public domain musical recordings from the 1950's, sung by Gisele MacKenzie. Both are from the TV series "Your Hit Parade", and "Count Your Blessings" is a good example of 1950's pop music ("Heartbreak Hotel" is done as a comedy number, although it's still good).

This weekly radio show, which goes out on the radio in many parts of the world, is presented by  Paul   Peters  & Geoff Kemp, who play all the music of the 1950's, from, as they say, Rock 'N' Roll to Nat 'King' Cole. They both enjoy themselves, and there's a little banter between the two hosts, who have been friends, and worked together for almost 40 years.

The June 2 1956 version of Snooky Lanson's performance of "Standing at the Corner" on the TV series Your Hit Parade. Also features "Design for Dreaming" star Tad Tadlock as a dancer. Nicely odd and unusal.

Charles Amirkhanian interviews Anne Draffkorn Kilmer, Professor of Assyriology at the University of California at Berkeley, about an LP ”Sounds from silence; Recent discoveries in ancient Near Eastern music” which documents a previously unknown musical composition dating from around 1400 BC. This ancient fertility hymn from Ugarit caused an international sensation when modern research made available for the first time, the knowledge necessary for the translation of ancient clay tablets...

Librivox recording of Poems of William Blake by William Blake. Read by Sam Stinson. Songs of Innocence and of Experience: Shewing the Two Contrary States of the Human Soul are two books of poetry by the English poet and painter, William Blake. Although Songs of Innocence was first published by itself in 1789, it is believed that Songs of Experience has always been published in conjunction with Innocence since its completion in 1794. Songs of Innocence mainly consists of poems describing the...

On his way to martyrdom in Rome, Bishop Ignatius of Antioch (then in Syria; now Antakya, Turkey) wrote letters to the Church in several cities of the Empire. Seven of these letters survive. By the way, you'll notice that the good bishop is not shy about calling Jesus "God". (So much for that Da Vinci Code silliness....)
