Before tuning in via Skype to oversee the murder and dismemberment of Saudi Arabian journalist Jamal Khashoggi, Saud al-Qahtani, a high-level adviser to the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), was best known for running social media operations for the royal court and serving as MBS’s chief propagandist and enforcer. His portfolio also included hacking and monitoring critics of the Kingdom and MBS.

Owing to the recent transitions in the Czech Republic, the Czech military must satisfy a large set of new requirements. One way the military intelligence can become more effective and can conserve resources is by increasing the efficiency of open-source intelligence (OSINT), which plays an important part in intelligence gathering in the age of information. When using OSINT effectively, the military intelligence can elevate its responsiveness to different types of crises and can also properly...

Every day, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) assets complete a variety of missions but not necessarily in an effective way. Over the past several years, the Department of Defense rapidly expanded ISR assets and missions, responding to a directive of 2008 from Secretary of Defense Robert Gates that established the department s ISR Task Force and commissioned it to provide resources needed now on the battlefield as a means of keeping US forces safe worldwide. Although quick to...

The primary objective of this study was to determine whether Return To Launch Site (RTLS) abort at T seconds along the launch trajectory of the Personnel Launch System (PLS) is possible using optimal control theory. The secondary objective is to assess effects of bank angle constraint, lift coefficient constraint, free and fixed final boundary conditions, etc. of the vehicle. The PLS is a complementary system to the Space Shuttle.

73 Magazine (also known as 73 Amateur Radio Today) (OCLC 22239204) was a United States-based amateur radio magazine that was published from 1960 to 2003. It was known for its strong emphasis on technical articles and for the lengthy editorials in each issue by its founder and publisher, Wayne Green. The magazine title, 73, means "best regards" in amateur radio lingo. Green, a former editor of CQ Amateur Radio magazine, published the first issue of 73 in October 1960. At that time, the...

The way that the Internet is accessed has changed dramatically in recent years. In addition to wire line connections such as dial-up, xDSL, cable modems or optical fiber, wireless implementations are gaining market share based on technologies such as WiFi, WiMAX, MBWA, satellite and cell phone networks. This thesis examines the potential usage of providing Internet access through cellular infrastructure. The cellular evolution path from first generation (1G) to third generation (3G) and fourth...

Living bone is continually undergoing processes of growth, reinforcement and resorption. These processes are termed collectively 'remodeling'. The remodeling processes in living bone are the mechanisms by which the bone adapts its histological structure to long-term changes in loading. Prolonged straining of a bone tends to make the bone stiffer, stronger and more dense; conversely, a living bone not subjected to its accustomed strain level will, in time, become more compliant, weaker and more...

This custom bibliography from the NASA Scientific and Technical Information Program lists a sampling of records found in the NASA Aeronautics and Space Database. The scope of this topic includes technologies for ultimately enabling us to "cut the cord" with Earth for space logistics. This area of focus is one of the enabling technologies as defined by NASA s Report of the President s Commission on Implementation of United States Space Exploration Policy, published in June 2004.

Two papers presented at the meeting of the Aerospace Medical Panel in Brussels, on the 26 January 1979, provide valuable data gained from the experience with the selection and training of Space Shuttle Payload Specialists as well as a review of physiological problems expected during the forthcoming Space Shuttle operation because of the enviromental stress of space life. Three other papers given in this meeting session are intended to update the Aerospace Specialist in the selection aircrew...

Among the many issues to be addressed in planning for the eventual human exploration of Mars are the processes of social adaptation and psychological adjustment to prolonged isolation in an extreme environment. An understanding of these two interrelated processes is critical from the standpoint of personnel selection, crew organization, and task performance. The human experience of exploration and research in Antarctica can contribute much to this understanding. This paper provides a brief...

NASA's Human Exploration Framework Team posed the question: "Is 80 cubic meters per person of habitable volume acceptable for a proposed Deep Space Habitat?" The goal of the workshop was to address the "net habitable volume" necessary for long-duration human spaceflight missions and identify design and psychological issues and mitigations. The objectives were: (1) Identify psychological factors -- i.e., "stressors" -- that impact volume and layout specifications...

In space, there is a need to monitor astronauts' vital signs and assess their readiness to perform specific tasks during a mission. Currently, NASA does not have the capability to noninvasively monitor crew for extended periods of time. The Canadian Space Agency is working with the Psychophysiology Lab at NASA ARC to determine if the Astroskin could be used as a solution to this problem. Astroskin, a commercially available garment with built-in biosensors, can be comfortably worn under clothing...

This report presents the results of conceptual design studies and reliability analyses as part of a comprehensive study program to evaluate the technological and economic feasibility of utilizing open- and closed-cycle gas turbines integrated with fossil or nuclear heat sources for providing advanced lightweight propulsion power for future Navy capital ship applications. The level of technology considered is that judged by the Contractor to be available during the 1990's.

This CP contains 40 papers presented at the Second International Microgravity Combustion Workshop held in Cleveland, OH, from September 15 to 17, 1992. The purpose of the workshop was twofold: to exchange information about the progress and promise of combustion science in microgravity and to provide a forum to discuss which areas in microgravity combustion science need to be expanded profitably and which should be included in upcoming NASA Research Announcements (NRA).

Space industrialization is confronting space law with problems that are changing old and shaping new legal principles. The return to the Moon, the next logical step beyond the space station, will establish a permanent human presence there. Science and engineering, manufacturing and mining will involve the astronauts in the settlement of the solar system. These pioneers, from many nations, will need a legal, political, and social framework to structure their lives and interactions. International...
