If you think original series for summer are a "new" idea, you are mistaken. This series ran from April to August 1957. An interesting mix of normal music, novelty music, and a truly bizarre finale. Complete with the original, fun commercials for L&M cigarettes and Oasis cigarettes....no registration with the US copyright office as far as I can tell.

A bizarre 1952 TV pilot for "The Spike Jones Show", a comedy/variety show. The pilot was not picked up, but Spike Jones did eventually host a series on TV: In 1954 he hosted a mid-season replacement, in 1957 he hosted a summer replacement, and in 1961 he hosted yet another series. (if there's anything wrong with this upload, please let me know).

An 1940's episode of "Howdy Doody", I think this is from March 1949. This episode is complete with NBC-TV Promo, and two NBC-TV IDs. This program features music, comedy, and the infamous "re-purposed" silent film clip. All of this adds up to an entertaining half hour.

ABBOTT AND COSTELLO (taken from en.wikipedia.org) Abbott and Costello were an American comedy duo composed of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello, whose work on radio and in film and television made them the most popular comedy team of the 1940s and early 1950s. Their patter routine Who's on First? is one of the best-known comedy routines of all time, and set the framework for many of their best-known comedy bits. Bud Abbott (1897-1974) was a veteran burlesque entertainer from a show business family....

ADVENTURES OF PHILIP MARLOWE Elements of mystery have always been represented in literature, but the detective story didn't arrive on the scene until the mid 1800's. Edgar Allan Poe's The Murders in the Rue Morgue, published in 1841, was the first. The Murder's main character, C. Auguste Dupin, was a brilliant detective who relied on superior deductive powers to solve the crime. He and his unnamed narrator companion solved this and two other mysteries. Later in the 19th century Sir Arthur Conan...

It was produced by and starred George Edwards, who also produced Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Frankenstein, Corsican Brothers, and Son of Porthos, all Australian series as well. Another chance to join host Rich Conaty on the special occasion of the1000th episode of his long-running Sunday night radio show; " The Big Broadcast "! The Big Broadcast    was heard during most of its 43-year run over   Fordham University 's FM radio station  WFUV in New York.   Conaty moved  The Big Broadcast   and his Saturday program,  The Big Bandstand , from WFUV to WQEW in December 1992. By the late 1990s it was evident that WQEW would also abandon the format, and in...

Biography in Sound was an hour-long documentary radio program that was produced and broadcast in the 1950s. It's one of the best examples of radio excellence - the production is exemplary and I find every episode to be compelling. It's one of my favorites; I don't understand why it isn't more well known! Each episode featured multiple guests, who often were peers or friends of the person who was the featured subject. For example, the show on Hemingway features Mickey Spillane, Gary Cooper, Al...

These episodes sound clean, clear and full, thanks to the folks at http://bold-venture.co.uk/. The episode titles follow the work done by Digital Deli Too...
