Folded plate of amphitheater erected for tournament, after drawing by Paolo Amato. The 180 woodcut emblems are by Pierre Eskrich, in the style of Bernard Salomon. Many of the four-block borders with grotesque, strap-work or architectural elements are signed PV, probably for Pierre Vase, i.e. Eskrich. The t.p. border inset with Bonhomme's Perseus device is probably by him as well. The ill. on I2r is a map of central Italy. The 11 emblems at the end comprising the section entitled "Arbori" (M3r-M8v) make use of ill. from Leonhard Fuchs' De historia stirpium (1549)....
