In the summer of 1940, the German forces are the conquerors of western Europe, and at home the feeling is that the war is over. German cities are untouched and there is thankfulness that the carnage of the First World War has not been repeated. But, after this jubilant beginning, the German people were to be shocked into reality by future events, including the decimation at Stalingrad. - Courtesy of bbc.co.uk

"All of us have schnozzles . . . if not in our faces, then in our character, minds or habits. When we admit our schnozzles, instead of defending them, we begin to laugh, and the world laughs with us." He butchered the English language. He sang as if he gargled with gravel. He dropped pearls of wisdom disguised as one-liners. And he had a nose that got everywhere ten minutes before he did. All of this and a genuine love for his craft and the people who enjoyed it made Jimmy Durante a...

We go back 50 years for Mr. Jones in all his whacked out glory remixed here all over again from radio shows and records made in the 40s through the 50s. He had a sampling mentality in 1940, combining sound effects with music, along with vulgar noises, one liners, instrumental jokes, and scripted stand-up surrealism. His band of musical pranksters were also very good musicians and included some memorable character actors as well. Everybody's knowledge of Spike and the City Slickers seems to be...

In the 1981 film "The Incredible Shrinking Woman", a Sci-Fi Comedy starring Lily Tomlin as a housewife reducing in size from a unique mix of household chemicals, writer Jane Wagner and Tomlin added a strong anti-consumerism bent to the story originally written by Richard Matheson in 1956.
