A collection of old-time radio shows and dramatizations I've collected together which are British mysteries, thrillers and suspense, most of which also have a murder or two.  Some of my favorites are included in this collection. I hope to offer more compiled collections in the future.

An episode of "The George Burns Show". Notice the lack of an "Allen" in the title. Gracie retired and George continued with this short-lived series. This episode aired 23 December 1958 on NBC. It contains the original commercials for Halo shampoo, Colgate Dental Cream (with Gardol), and Fab detergent. The episode also features a very annoying laugh-track.

Screen Songs  are animated cartoons featuring the famous “ bouncing ball ” produced by Max  Fleischer  and distributed by  Paramount Pictures  between 1929 and 1938. The cartoons are sing-alongs featuring popular song hits of the day along with the ethnic stereotypes and humor typical of the era in which they were produced. In the 1930s, the series began to feature current popular musical guest stars such as Cab Calloway, Rudy Vallee and Ethel Merman. In the 1950s, the series was...

This very funny comic song was a typical piece of Denny's repertoire, and this recording is just as wild and weird as many he made. The piano playing on this take is particularly interesting, as it's very different from the takes Denny made for Edison around the same time.  The pianist on this recording could be debated, from very small characteristics that are distinct to opposing pianists who worked luckily for the same company. The pianist is more likely to be Fred Hylands, though there's a...

Ernest Rogers was a native of Atlanta, GA. He attended Emory University where he was a member of their prestigious Glee club. In the fall of 1920 he became a writer for the Atlanta journal. In 1934 He began working for the journal's WSB radio station where he soon became one of the most popular anchors.  These sides were recorded for the Victor label in the late 1920's. The tunes are very enjoyable but hard to classify. There are country and blues influences to be heard and no doubt some...

In the very first episode of the "Adam and Dr Drew Wrap Up Show", we wrap up episodes 372-376. Dr Drew is in Australia, so we picked the worst week possible to start the Wrap Up Show. Adam is joined by Dr Spaz for a few shows, then comedian Adam Ray for the last two shows. Dr Spaz is great at shitting on points, so Drew won't be missed too much. Thanks, and enjoy!

Biography in Sound was an hour-long documentary radio program that was produced and broadcast in the 1950s. It's one of the best examples of radio excellence - the production is exemplary and I find every episode to be compelling. It's one of my favorites; I don't understand why it isn't more well known! Each episode featured multiple guests, who often were peers or friends of the person who was the featured subject. For example, the show on Hemingway features Mickey Spillane, Gary Cooper, Al...

This upload contains all 150 episodes (although 2 are sadly incomplete) of the radio show, The Little Things in Life, written by the legendary Peg Lynch.  The show, starring Lynch and Robert Dryden, aired during the attempted revival of dramatic radio in the 1970s, specifically from 1975-1976.  Like Ethel and Albert, and The Couple Next Door, both also Lynch products, the show focuses on the comedy inherent in normal everyday situations faced by your average married couple.   The dates,...

Not many of his films have surfaced, and outside of a mention and a few clips in the 1949 retrospective on Mack Sennett "Down Memory Lane' This is about it. The Bill Sprague Collection is proud to present Donald Novis in "Say It With A Song" a nice rare curio item

Tiffany Stahl was a low budget studio, trying to compete with the major studios. The Voice Of Hollywood, while in the same vein as Hollywood on Parade , comes of as being cheaply produced , While paramount had the money for more lavish productions. Young couple David and Helen swap the frenzy of Croydon for the serenity of the Yorkshire countryside. But there are obstacles to overcome... Terry Gregson's north v south sitcom stars Rodney Bewes as David Parkinson, Ann Bell as Helen Parkinson, Daphne Oxenford as Mrs Henderson, Paula Tildrook as Mrs Arthur and Peter Wheeler as Mr Sands. Produced at BBC Manchester by Ron McDonnell. First broadcast on BBC Radio 2 in 1981.
