This film is "the story of reproduction". It makes use of many shots of nature and animals along with illustrations of flowers, fish, chicken and cow reproductive processes in order to finally explain human reproduction. The male's role in the human reproductive process is distant -- implied through the similar process that occurs among the animals. Ultimately, the joys of reproduction can be looked forward to in the bond of matrimony. Ocean tides puppies eating Close-up of a cow's...

Hedy Lamarr and George Sanders in a movie based on Ben Ames Williams' novel of early 19th-century Maine. The IMDB entry is here . The video files with "_1946" in the file-name are of higher quality; the picture is sharper and there are no covered up watermarks. However, they have a very slight problem. At 1:25:26 the sign on the church is in French instead of English. The mpeg2 file is ready to be loaded into DVDAuthorGUI (a free program) to create a DVD to watch on your television.

This is believed to be the first feature film based on real life serial killers Charles Starkweather and Caril Fugate. Mainstream Hollywood would not produce films inspired by the pair until a decade after this one. A number of films were inspired by the duo (some very loosely) and included such major examples as Terrence Malick's Badlands (1973) and Oliver Stone's Natural Born Killers (1994)

William King Baggot stars in this early dramatization of Robert Louis Stephensonâs classic horror story. Although the script maintains the essence of the original story there are a quite a few differences. In this version, for instance, Jekyll is romantically involved with a woman named Alice. Please note that this is a silent movie and no soundtrack has been added. You can learn more about the film at A Passion for Horror

This film falls firmly in the So Bad You'll Love It. After a plane takes off for London, a note is found in the airport saying that some people are going to be killed. And it is not long after that, that someone is killed. The captain (Robert Stack) tries to keep the passengers calm while the people on the ground do background checks on everyone and they learn that some of the passengers have history with one another. One of the rare instances where a sequel improves upon an iconic original. The scene in which Ernest Thesiger has dinner with the monster Karloff is alone worth the price of admission.

College student Nan Barlow visits the village of Whitewood as research for her paper on witchcraft in New England, particularly the case of Elizabeth Selwyn. Her tutor, Professor Alan Driscoll(Lee), recommends the Raven's Inn, run by a Mrs. Newless. Rather unwisely, given the amount of low-hanging fog outside(and against the advice of Mrs. Newless), Nan takes an immediate interest in the basement... Gabby was the town crier in "Gulliver's Travels". A series of 9 Gabby cartoons was produced in 1940-41. "Gabby Goes Fishing" is number 7. Gabby wants to teach a young boy how to catch the really big fish and ends up getting hooked himself. This Public Domain copy is faded indeed, but still a contribution to the collection of Fleischer cartoons on this site.

Sir Joseph Barcroft (1872-1947) is famous for his research into the effect that altitude has on blood. In the early part of the century he travelled to the mountains of Peru and Tenerife where he studied this subject in depth, providing the basis for his textbook, The Respiratory Function of the Blood (1914). This film shows his classic experiment to demonstrate the Dissociation Curve of the Haemoglobin Oxygen System. The film was discovered in the 1970s, though was made in the 1930s. The...

"Prelude to War," Chapter I of Frank Capra's "Why We Fight" series, describes World War II as a battle between the "slave world" of fascism and the "free world" of American liberty. In the "slave world," the entire populations of Germany, Italy and Japan have been hoodwinked by madmen, opportunists who capitalized on their people's desperation and weakness to rise to power. These demagogues promised revenge for past losses, and in the process...

An early Porky war cartoon, with Porky as a doughboy in World War I. This one also has Beans, an early character who was in a few shorts, but didn't pan out as well as they probably wanted him to at Termite Terrace. Decent cartoon, moves fairly fast with very good animation.

This is the 75 minute TV version of Roger Corman's (and Charles Griffin's) goofy self-parody "Creature from the Haunted Sea." For television, Monte Hellman wrote, produced and directed about 15 minutes of new footage to get the film up to a marketable length including an absurd theme song as performed by the wonderful Betsy Jones-Moreland. These scenes, presumably shot in 16mm, were never intended for theatrical release, but crop to a 16 x 9 aspect ratio (along with the rest of the...
