O sieh, wie klar das Weltall schimmert! Es ist ein Glanz um Alles her (See how brightly the universe shines! There is a radiance on everything) Arnold Schoenberg’s Verklärte Nacht is a chamber symphonic poem for string sextet originally composed in 1899. It predates Schoenberg’s dodecaphonic serial technique, for which he is more commonly known, but already in this early work we see significant chromaticism which explores the limits of western tonality. In musical terms, the transfigured...

More than five years ago during the construction of the Puntigam Arcology, locally known as the Inverted Pyramid, artifacts were found in the low foundation strata of the construction site that fundamentally changed our picture of human evolution. Work was halted after a consortium of international archaeologists was granted a six month window to investigate the site before the essential building project continued. Looking from Puntigam south towards the Slovenian border, the inverted pyramids...

A handheld game console is a small, portable self-contained video game console with a built-in screen, game controls, and speakers. Handheld game consoles are smaller than home video game consoles and contain the console, screen, speakers, and controls in one unit, allowing people to carry them and play them at any time or place. In 1976, Mattel introduced the first handheld electronic game with the release of Auto Race. Later, several companies—including Coleco and Milton Bradley—made...

So here at last is Solomon Kirchner's debut release "Finchley in the Rain". Solomon has been my long time sideman on over two decades of Entropy Circus projects as well as being half of Europe's favourite sitar'n'synth duo, Raagnagrok. And it's a strange choice for a debut, being a cover version of a lost 1974 recording by Bromwich Ham (not to be mistaken with the near contemporary German fusion act Brummagem). Following his victory in the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, Krishna found himself in a changed world. Within twenty-four hours both the stylist and hairdresser had left the team. “They were awful careerists,” Krishna told us, “both of them left for Japan. A band called Vow Wow had poached them from under my nose.” This betrayal gave Krishna cause to re-evaluate his life. “The spirit works in strange ways. There was something out of balance inside of me; at a fundamental level. I toured...

On arriving at Mestostadt at any time of the day you'll ask yourself: why did I not come here earlier? Why did I leave it so long? The plazas of Mestostadt are obscured by that long afternoon light of late autumn. It gets into your eyes. It turns the mid-ground the colour of cough sweets, heavy with narcotics. All around you the public art is massive and blocky with women and men pregnant with gravity. The books you find in the library: you can't read them but they are better designed than they...

The music of Gurdjieff - De Hartmann.. T De Hartmann In Gurdjieffâs view, music like other traditional sciences must above all serve to lead humanity toward awakening. Most of the music we listen to, however, is âsubjective.â Not only does it flow from the composerâs subjective state but it affects each listener according to the subjective state in which he happens to be. Infinitely rarer is âobjectiveâ music which requires an objective knowledge of human nature, most specifically of the...

One of the most powerful and moving ballets from the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution. It depicts a woman's journey into the People's Liberation Army. Instead of weak, fragile women dressed in fluttery tutus, women were depicted in military uniforms with rifles. Instead of frail motions, women had strong arms and clenched fists. This play shook the entire foundation of bourgeois art.

'Symmetry' (1966) 10m, dir. Philip Stapp Stapp was one of the greatest animators working in the 1950-1975 era, using stylized, often pointillist abstract imagery, in a floating world sometimes surrealist, at other times reminiscent of Japanese "ukiyo-e" illustration. His spectacular 'Symmetry' is his greatest film, a fantasy of dancing images breaking apart, spinning, and converging. For more information on Stapp, visit: http://www.afana.org/stapp.htm

This is Clip 1 from the Forty-second Archive release of our stock footage. This is a simple Kaleidoscope clip of fireworks from the fourth of July, 2008 for use on your videos. Walt Disney used a Kaleidoscope shot to open each episode of The Wonderful World of Disney and I still enjoy them. This clip is from my personal collection. I have tried to organize these clips with titles and countdowns so they are easier to use. COMMENT: I am releasing these Stock footage Clips for free so that editors...

Buster's handmade boat, The Damfino, is finished and is, of course, too large to get through the basement door. When he drives off with it in tow, the side of his house, then the whole thing, collapses. At the harbor he rides the boat out only to have it sink beneath him. The rest is a series of adventures he and his family have with the restored boat. This funny short has some good subtile gags plus the usual slapstick and gadgets.

A video art piece examining the media, particularly Television news. On July 4, Independence Day, 1975, a "media circus" assembles at San Francisco's Cow Palace Stadium. A pyramid of television sets are stacked, doused with kerosene, and set ablaze. Then a modified 1959 Cadillac, piloted by two drivers who are guided only by a video monitor between their bucket seats, smashes through the pyramid destroying the TV sets. Preceding the event are actual clips from various TV news...

Tom Smith headed up the Special Effects team at Industrial Light & Magic, where he created all the goodies for the 'Star Wars' films. This is his academic film masterwork, which took over a year to create, over 13 weeks to film, and utilized "traveling mattes," with as many as five separate films running in the background, showcasing wonderful models and graphics. About the making of the film, Tom Smith writes: "I made that film in 1976 with Richard Basehart as narrator and a...
