In October of 1996, engineers at the the San Francisco-based Internet Archive launched their first web crawlers, taking snapshots of web pages. At the time, the World Wide Web was only 2.5 terabytes in size. In 1996, it was still impossible to predict how large the World Wide Web might become. Even in those early days of the Web, broken links (404 errors) were a growing problem, and it was clear that most Web pages were short-lived. Brewster Kahle and Bruce Gilliat invented a system for...

The goal of this collection is to give you an idea of what I know, what I’m trying to understand, and what I hope to learn about locks, and how mechanical security has affected culture. Purely for budget considerations, I’m going to have to leave some of my output out of this volume, but anything I leave out will be readily available somewhere online, and you can check the resources in the back to find my videos, talks, blog posts, papers, etc. While some of that material has made it in...

A set of demo/implementation/evaluation disks for the Cirrus Logic GD5320 (v3.08) graphics chip, from 1991.  I discovered these in a junk pile at HSC Electronic Supply in Santa Clara, CA, so I bought and imaged them in case they're useful to anyone. The demo disk says it was produced by Adware Inc in Los Gatos (in 06-20-90). Los Gatos isn't far away from where I found them, so it's possible these came right from there.

The third installment in the 3-D Ultra Pinball series, this game has a dinosaur theme instead of the space and horror motives of the previous games. Featuring 15 tables, the game appears to be bigger than the previous games, but most of those levels are much smaller than in the previous games. The story, although very short, involves crash landing on an island taken over by a mad scientist, who is turning the inhabitants into dinosaurs.
